i am looking into getting some 18s again but they have 225 40 18 tyres on them, there are on a classic wagon at the minute just wondered what you think?

will they scrape on my classic or not? as they dont on the wagon i dont want to buy them and be a waste of time and money

Yes, they will rub. You need 215 35 18 size tyres.

We know sooooooooooooo many classic owners who've got shut of 18" coz of rubbing issues.

BUT...

A friend has just put 18" on hers and says all's sweet

Depends on what tyre size she is running but as jon said if you fit 215 you should be ok but any bigger and they will rub

225 35 18 - not noticed rubbing yet, but they've only been on for a few hundred miles with mostly only me in the car. What areas to people find rub then? Inside edge, outside edge, front, back?

I have 225/40/18 tyres on 8J Compomotive MO wheels. They would definitely not fit with the standard suspenders so I had to fit coilovers. There was a little rubbing going over bumps at first, but once I'd adusted the suspension, I've had no rubbing since. Had them on on the car for about 7 years now. (93 WRX)
