Default Decat Zorst

hi all,is it worth decatting a classic sti (downpipe)??what power gains can i expect and how will the fuelling be??jus worried incase she starts drinking alot..thx

You can decat these but its always (and highly recommended) to have them mapped to compensate for any overboosting/fuel issues.
Also, what version is the car?

version 3.. if its not mapped will that do any long term damage?any ideas on fuel consumption?

It could cause det and that can kill the engine, it will overboost and that can cause det, it wont cause much in the way of higher fuel consumption, it may just mess the fuelling up though (air/fuel ratio).

You need to have a chat with some mappers about your options here, Bob Rawle is probably your closest ( http://www.brdevelopments.com/ ).

thx for that tony,will consider what i wana do..didnt really wana go down the remap route,just heard that you still get fair bit of bhp by just removing it..

ive had a full decat on my98 wagon and iv never had a remap because its the crap 98 ecu but iv had it rollin roaded at scoobyclinic and they said it was running perfect no need for a remap but the fuel will be worse but defo worth it because of the earlier spool up and the sound

There is quite a bit of difference between a uk ecu and a jdm sti ecu, decatting one is not the same as decatting the other due to mechanical and map differences (jdm sti maps are far more aggressive) so it is always recommended to have decats on sti's mapped for safety.
