Default Problems with Tescos Super Unleaded

Hey,
Went to fill car up friday night at my tescos in Brid. And they had run out of super unleaded 99. I thought I'd be ok as I can fill up in york on way back from Leeds Bradford Airport.

So on the way on the A64 traffic on the otherside was a standstill, great will have to go to Hul. In which I did so. Only to find they had run out.

Great I'm under a quarter need to get home then drive to work. Went in and asked the assistant who said that there is still some left in and I can use it.

So it got me out of a sticky situation, but they said that they are having problems down south with super unleaded and had no idea when this area will be getting some.

I'm gonna cut down using my car but in the mean time if I do use all the fuel how do I get round it.

I have a Import MY99 STI V5 Can I use normal 95 and stick in a octane booster or will this not work. Just need to know a solution as I no idea when there is gunna be fuel lol

Use shell V and just don't thrash your car too much if it's been mapped to 99. Imprezas don't explode even if you put in a tank of 95, just don't use it as a full time replacement without it being mapped for it.

It was the one on tope end of Beverly road.

So I can use 95 as long as i dnt thrash her and use 99 again as soon as they have some in. I guess I could use That octane booster to.

Unforuntaly where I live its a deprived area so there ain't any Shell garages, nearest one is at kirkburn but they dnt use the v-power.

Same in worcester as well. Bit annoying as it tends to be the cheepest and the car seems to run the best on it.

Just found out the Shell at Kirkburn does have V-Power. So its ok to use that evan though ive been runnning on tesco 99. Will there be any running issues that you can think of.

As one person has mentioned he gets 40 miles extra. Just don't want to risk damaging me engine.

My mapper, a certain Andy F, says I can use either V Power or Tesco 99. I'm no fuel expert, but would think that suggests they are close to being interchangeable (car mapped for VPower).

Both the St Stephens and Bev Road have run out. I ended up going to Shell in Willerby instead. I only wanted to use Tesco as I've got a 5p a litre off voucher to use

I've had trouble of late with Tesco99 at Mansfield and Chesterfield. Seems to be hit and miss so I'm sticking with V-Power for the time being.

I've had the same problem in Mansfield and surrounding area's.Tried both the Tesco's in Mansfield and the new Shell garage in Sutton. All had no 99ron and didn't know when they were getting any.Managed to sort some from the Shell garage on the A611 by the Badger Box pub although I don't know how long that will last.Only problem is by the time I've located a garage with some I've probably done 30-40 miles.

Shell is a higher octane fuel than tesco's anyway so you dont have to use octane booster with it (shell is a refined fuel, tesco's is a lower fuel with additives to boost the octane up).

KT, DONT run your car on 95 ron, it wont like it, either fill up with a 97 ron and octane boost it (really you should have something like a knock link or KS3/4 fitted for added security) or use Shell V power which is a 99 ron fuel.

Echo v-power being 99 ron and superior to tesco 99. A very good thread on here somewhere from someone in the know.

This might be a bit far out for you but if you come off M1 Jct29 and head up the A6175 (Clay Cross), there's a Shell garage (only open until 2030 mind) just before a village called Holmewood; and then if you head into Holmewood and turn right onto B6039 towards Chesterfield, there's another just there (24HR). They always have V-Power on tap. The beauty of living in Tibshelf is that I have several Shell and Tesco garages within a 10 mile radius.

Im sure there is little difference between the fuels, they are both marketed at 99 ron meaning they will be about 97 on a good day.
The winner for me is Tesco = 1.06 V Power - 1.12 plus you can get 5p off at Tesco.
Pity they have run out everywhere.....

Filled up with Tesco 99 yesterday in Poole, Dorset - not a problem.

There is a Shell 500 yards up the road selling V-Power for the same price. I've found I get better MPG with the Tesco's ???? Suppose different cars respond to different fuels. My PP chip allows me to run 97 ron anyway, but I stick with the Tesco's as I get good results.

Tesco at Clifton Moor, York have sold out. The last time this happened, they were out for around 3 weeks.
