You can have issues with new age cars fitted with A-DCCD as it can disturb a sensor and they aint cheap but a steering wheel lock like a disclok is probably a better purchase

Decent QR steering joints themselves aren't cheap - £200-odd for the one I've got and that was about five years ago.

Fitting the boss tends to be tricky as they normally need to be welded on and the column needs to be machined first.

Another thing to consider is that if you have an airbag wheel, your insurer might not be keen on you removing it. All things considered, Tony's suggestion is more practical.

The "snap off" kit as it were, works on two prongs. They are strong and not they do not come off in your hands under hard driving lol.

However, they do not work with Momo steering boss's, I fitted a momo wheel to my blobeye and had a quick look at the snap off kit i have but nothing lined up so put it back in the drawer.

Usually you would need a mountney hub kit for these to fit, But i couldnt find a mountey steering boss for the blobeye impreza.

They are Handy as you dont have to carry around a massive steering lock in the car, esp if your running a stripped car. Not as secue as you would like to think mind.

It only needs 6x4mm allen key head bolt removing and the boss pulling off std steering wheel back on and your away, this could be done and performed in under a few mins if you know what your doing. So for security Steering lock wins all day but i hate the std steering wheels and not too fussed about the airbags so off it went. Dead easy to do, not too sure why people are so scared with them lol.

no need for welding on the d1 version as it fits to the boss....!!!
and it fits many steering wheels..
you buy a steering wheel boss and it then bolts to it mate.
so you can pick a nice momo and boss kit then buy the snap off all sorted..

You might be pleasantly surprised if you tried it. As far as ergonomics are concerned, the "arms outstretched" driving position that most folk tend to go for is a bit crap, bringing the wheel closer actually makes the car better to drive. Look at in-car WRC or touring car footage and you'll be surprised how close most drivers have their wheels - although it can be difficult to judge when it's common to pull the driver further back for weight distribution purposes.

thats what i dont want to happen and will happen i like my driving postion and i sit quite far back so moving the seat back would make it a strech for 3rd and would need a new race pedal box. and as above it is all in the aid of weight distribution they sit slap in the middle in the wrc so sont thing i can do it :-(
