Default Newbie in need of some advice please ;)

Hi Guys
My Name is Matt and live in dorset, i have recently purchased my fist Subaru impreza which is a 53plate JDM and im loving it
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice please as i am having trouble with my steep drive. The access to my house is not the best and every time i drive up my drive the passenger rear wheel lifts off the ground which the car seems to hate!!!, it starts to judder and makes some random noises until the wheel goes back down, I'm a bit worried it will do some damage , is this ok & would it be best to change the settings in the dccd to lock before it go up it? Its currently on auto mode.

Cheers
Matt

Hi Matt, I'm a classic owner so abit unsure to be honest. Has it really stiff uprated suspension then? is your drive at a strange angle then? just can't understand why it's lifting that wheel up
We've got an awkward steep drive too but the worst that my car suffer's is a slight rub on the underneath of the exhaust and the mudflaps get abit pushed up. Eitherway someone on hear might be able to suggest something that'll help you out a little better than I can. Welcome to Scoobynet BTW, Gareth

Hi Guys

My first day of ownership was yesterday so i haven't altered the dccd settings yet

I live down a one car lane and i have to come off the lane onto a real uneven steep drive so the angle makes one of the rear wheels lift of the ground, its only for around 3 secs but the judder is worrying lol, it's the same with all my other motors but they have all been front wheel drive so just pull on up..

The car has been lowered on full adjustable tein suspension, which is quite hard.

Cheers

hello mate from what i understand it happens a lot with the dccd on classics and newage at low speeds especially with it locked and sometimes when open.

Hopefully some one with be able to tell you alot more about it shortly

I dont have it on my 93 RA so only know what i have heard.

regards nathan

The word diff or differential means basically the difference between one wheen and the next, if one wheel is off the ground then the differential tries to keep them the same, what you are feeling is the diff winding up doing so.
I would suggest some quick drying cement from your local b&q to fix your drive if your not happy with the vibration

A few other bits to remember on these cars, super unleaded only (v power + octane booster if not mapped) 6 month/7.5k service intervals, 1 year gearbox oil changes and these run NGK pfr7b's as standard, so slighly more expensive to run than a uk car but worth it in the end

Lightbulb Where abouts in Dorset?

Hi Matt,

Welcome to Scooby ownership let the fun commence!

I trust that you have signed up to DorsetScoobys.co.uk - if not, why not?

Depending where you are in Dorset you also need to introduce yourself to Trition. These guys specialise in Scoobies and are around the back of Hurn, or should I say Bournemouth, airport.

Those are the stated Subaru service intervals, no point in doing it every 3.5k unless you have a highly tuned car, anything running under 350bhp will be more than happy to do 7.5k between services.

Thanks for the advice guys

As recommended i called up Alan Jeffrey as he is the chap that mapped the car. He was really helpful and told me its nothing to worry about, just the diff at work

The last owner serviced the car himself in May as he had his own ramps & pit, its only been 200 miles since then.

I filled the motor up with my usual Texaco super unleaded, which i hope is ok? seems to be running pretty sweet..

This is the first forum i have joined , i have only been a Subaru owner for 48hrs lol... so will take a look at DorsetScoobys.co.uk

Can anyone recommend a good place to buy parts online air, oil, fuel filters spark plugs etc.......

I will get some pics up asap..

Cheers again guys

Well personally wouldnt use texaco super, you need to run her on tesco 99 or even better, shell v power and I would invest in a ks3 or a ks3 knock sensor, very good bit of kit
Just do a search for phormula ks3, there was a group buy up for them on here, may still be in that section

Cheers for all the help fella's

The last owner said to use the highest octane i could get, so i will use tesco's 99, only problem is the nearest tesco's is 14 miles away lol.

I think i will get some octane booster in case i need to use a local garage in emergency's or away from home .
