Default Help needed on making it FASTER !!! Also re-map suggestions ??

right, after a lot of thinking and consulting my bank account, i have decided i want to pump a few more gee gees into my engine.

im not rich so im just going for the simple / cheap-ish mods before i get it re-mapped. up to now i have walbro, k&n panel filter, full de-cat ( all 3 cats ). all in all including the re-map should cost me about £650, and a few favours !

but is there anything else i could do before i get it mapped, something that will work with these mods or something that will give a bit more bhp ?? cant afford turbos or FMIC's ect though ?

and fially, where am i best getting it mapped ? what are your suggestions / comments / experience ?? i live about 20 mins from Hull so dont want to be travelling real far, i dont mind a couple of hours though ?

sorry for the essay, cheers nick

walbro cost me £70, panel filter cost me £32 and a good friend of mine is making me a full de-cat exhaust in exchange for me decorating his living room ( what i do for a living ) !! and as for the remap, most of the ones i have seen advertised on tuning companies websites are like only £550 ??

Contact Andrew Carr, he does OS mapping at half the price... lots of extras added in to like launch control, or "safe" warm-up from cold....

He did Rick's Ev* in Hull last weekend, so he gets around, or you can pay his fuel costs to come top you. He's based in the NW.

HTH

dunx

P.S. Shoud make around 280/300 if you are lucky....

ecutek is a licensed product so the mapper has invested a fair amount of cash into his business, open source is a free forum based tuning product that anyone with basic pc skills can use. If the same mapper used ecutek and open source the results should be the same, so I would say that if you find a good mapper on open source there are good savings to be had, but ecutek being a recognised product may give more faith to a potential buyer if you want to sell your car.

ah right im with you now, so say if a car was advertised as having an ecutek remap, then you know it has been done by a proper company / garage ect, whereas OS maps can be done by anyone for a bit of cash ?

well from what people are telling me i might have to go OS and andrew carr sounds like the person

cheers

mocom racing and thwaites developments also seem to be praised on here and both offer open source maps, so go with whoever is closest.

get your parts on and give andrew a call, you wont be dissapointed.he has mapped mine many times now. i either travel up to him or he comes down to me.it would probably take you around an hour and half to two hours to get to him as he is in preston.

Pat The Map (Pat Hebourn) has mapped a lot of the cars in HUll. When mine is ready for a remap I will be going to him as he mapped it for the previous owner.
Car is running Circa 380bhp (Pat guesstimate) and it is a very safe map. No Knock no det. I never see my Knock link light up even when I give it some welly which is rare.

I can get his number for you if you wish?

Hi n12 ead

Have you contacted Andrew Carr yet?

I have a 2005 WRX which I would like mapping, from reading earlier posts he has a good reputation.

I'm only in south Yorkshire so we may get a discount if we arrange together or sort out a group buy.

Cheers Paul
