Bucket seats and long journeys

I've been thinking about buying another classic for a while. I want a UK classic for all sort of reasons but I also want to make a few changes to the interior.
I really fancy a dark coloured classic with racing type seats, harness and harness bar.
Ideally bride seats, takata harness and a powder coated white harness bar. Given that this little lot will probably be the same as buying the classic again I'm looking at Sparco seats and Sabelt harnesses.
How are racing/bucket type seats on a long journey. I also found that my right leg would start to ache in classic seats after a couple of hours.

I have only been in the car for the longest of about 2 hours at the most. I can say that it wasn't a problem, but I think if you were to go longer I would just do the regular 'advised' rest stop and give your tush a little rest.

Never had a problem with mine either but like Hysteria says the trips i have been on have had stops every couple of hours to stretch the legs.
If you get the seat set in the correct postion when fitting it then i cant see it being a problem. Even with the original seats i never really moved them when on long trips so the fixed seat should just be the same.

Its not so much wanting the change because the OE seats make my legs ache I just want the racing seats and harness to feel more like a hero when I'm driving it
Just don't want to change them and find the racing seats are uncomfortable.

I have a half cage in the garage to be fitted either over the winter or early next year and i am toying with the harness bar as well.

LOL, Only going with the harness bar because there is 3 of us and on those odd occasions we go on family jollies I need to be able to use the back seats so the bar will have to come out.
Plus not keen on cages without harnesses and helmets - it can kill you.

Fair enough
I do like a bit of scaffolding in the car to make me feel special
Have you thought about seats?
There was some lovely recaro pole positions and sabelt harness on ebay but at £900+ it was a bit more than I wanted to pay - I haven't even got a scoob and I'm looking for parts LOL.

I havent bothered with the harnesses just now as the car had them when i bought it, it still had the standard seats then but i just found them a pain.

Its the angle thats important, if you get it right you'll be fine, but they can take a bit of fine tuning and can be uncomfortable if you just bolt them to the existing runners.

My brother had two corbeau fixed bucket seats, and they were nice for short journeys, but i hated sitting in them on a long run, they get really uncomfy, tbh i prefer the standerd bucket seats, There more practical.

not sure if this applies to a 3" harness, but the 2" Sabelt i had in my old classic was this style and it was very versatile for passengers. took 2 seconds to unhook the rears and just tuck them in somewhere

as for the bucket seats, i'm sure the dearer ones are better but i had some Cobra Monaco's for about 5 minutes. awful, no **** protection at all. i'd really try some out before you commit if you're spending that sort of money.

I have Recaro Apex in mine. I recently did 1000 miles in 5 days going up to and round Scotland. No real issues with comfort. It's the suspension in mine that makes it a bit harsh.
Harnesses are a little impractical as you have to have them tight all the time and you can't look around as easily.
So overall, no real problem for me. Worse thing is driving about with stickers all over the car.
