Default Goodwood Trackday Tips?

Hi All,

I am doing a trackday at Goodwood in October and would like a few tips, if anyone has been on the same track with a Scooby. I did a trackday at Abingdon recently and learned a lot (via a few spins!) about how the car handles. However, Goodwood is a much faster track and I have less experience of taking faster corners on the limit.

I want to feel I can push it a bit but definitely don't want to damage my car. At Abingdon there is nothing to hit, but at Goodwood there is plenty.

Thanks!

I have raced there and we found that our brakes took a hammering.
Wasn't driving a scoob but it will reflect on most cars, especially at the end of the long straight.

Would pay to keep that in mind mate !

2nd the end of the long straight, 135mph and standard pads was a no no even on my 335 godspeeds, though i had neglected to tell the instructor that I was'nt intending on doing high speed laps.

Thanks guys. I was having fun with pad wear at Abingdon from 115-120 mph so yes 135 mph would be a lot worse. I've just had new pads fitted, but I will still be careful.

Anyone else?

slow and steady to start with at Goodwood. Build up slowly, as you say, it is a fast track.

And some corners dont give too much room for error.

What track day are you doing exactly? as i may well be in attendance in October. Its my local track.

Hi fmp, yeah I was planning on building speed up slowly - I made the mistake of trying to hammer it early on at Abingdon and had a couple of spins.

I am doing the Focused Events track day on the 10th.

I will be there for the Revival before that (I've only ever missed on year of it), checking out the braking points!

Its a great track, very smoth a very fast. The one left corner can catch you when the weight balance of the car shifts . As has been said already, build up slowly as before you know it you really do hit some speeds. I realised how quickly I was going when on the slow down lap I left it in 6th and 'coasted' around but still didn't do much under 80mph whilst letting the car cool. Thats the other thing, make sure you cool everything down aswell. Its a hard circuit on brakes but I found the brembo's pretty good and fade free.

Steve.
