Not sure if the OP from this thread will post here, but I feel more people need to know about this, I'm fuming and it's nothing to do with me!

That's enough for me to cancel my plans for next year....

Permanently.

Very Poor. This is surely the end of subaru's enthusiast following.

That's such a bad story! A company who has had a good reputation for a long time have now lost their passion, and ripping people off!

It's a poor car anyway so you'd have thought they'd be pulling out all the stops for peeps that have bought or leased the monstrosity ...

When the thread says "returned to factory", was that FHI Japan or "a place" that IM have in the UK?

What I mean is releasing the hatch shape that was received poorly in the first place, then dropping out of WRC and now this. Not the sort of brand an enthusiast wants to buy into.

i think subaru have given up on making decent cars nowadays as the amount of horror storys you hear about the newer vehicles are horrendous. glad i still have a classic and don't think i'd want a hawkeye onwards.

Not surprising really, a far cry from the days when IM used to ring you up, ask how your car was going and then send you a free set of mats for your trouble.

Nowadays they are suffering from a lack of demand due to the recession AND the fact the new car is pretty ordinary at best. As sales drop they become more desparate and cut corners although this particular story is about the worst I have heard from any reputable manufacturer.

Stay well away is my advice.

if everything in that post is factually correct, then its absolutely appalling - if Subaru have taken a standard RX and simply changed the panels and dropped the 2.5 engine in, surely they can be held liable if someone had an accident in one of these cars and was injured (or worse!)

They're still running standard RX suspension and brakes which could be linked to an accident if the driver was expecting it to corner or stop like a proper WRX. The cars could even be considered dangerous because of the higher risk of component failure from weaker parts having been left on a (supposedly) more superior car.

Is it even legal for Subaru to have done this - for example, under the trades descriptions act or something? The cars are not what they are being sold as, full stop.

I'm another person who loves Subaru, but this is just plain wrong. Those cars should be removed from the road (at Subaru's cost).

Didn't someone post on SN a couple of weeks ago about "fake" WRXS's ??

Shocking behaviour from a "legitimate"company

Lol did these modifications invalidate the warranty ?

Another reason to buy JDM or specify options which require it to come from the factory rather than from stock.

Think this post covers the situation well, if one of the younger scooby owners dropped a turbo lump in a Sport and went on to have an accident injuring someone all hell would break loose, the whole suspension and brakeing setup is not suitable for that level of power. I just hope no one is put in this position by Subaru

Absolutely stunned if this information is in fact correct!!!!!!

Feel sorry for the people who end up forking out a lot of money to simply buy them before the £££££ they'll have to spend after!

This seems unbelievable.

Theres not fit for purpose and theres plain dangerous. If true these cars need taking off the road asap. Remember the case against Ford in the States when damaged tyres were fitted? If suspension components are failing after 10k under normal use, its only a matter of time before something serious happens.

Ultimately this is very real fraud. Hope the OP on SIDC and other owners take them to the cleaners.
