Default Quite proud of myself!!

Hi all,

I have to say I am quite pleased with myself after having attempted and succeeded at replacing the turbo on my classic MY99!! Not being the best mechanic on the planet, this is quite a large achievement for me!!!

I had a blown turbo seal which caused the car to smoke after a few minutes on idle. After many attempts to contact my local subaru specialist to get a slot for fitting a replacement and not having been contacted back, I bit the bullet and decided to give it a shot myself!!

Saved myself the best part of 100 notes, and can now add this to my belt of things I can do to my car!!!

Anywho, just thought i'd share this with you!

Simon

Cheers Wiley,

Neither did I, suprisingly there isn't that much information on it on the www!!!

I took a look at the workshop manual to get a rough idea of the steps involved and then took it from there!!!

Tricky bit was getting the bottom coolant pipe back on again when the turbo was bolted back in...it has a nice finger slicing pinch clip in just the right place to make it totally unfriendly to your hands!!!

I was pleasantly suprised to get all the bolts off everything without a hitch! Fortunately the previous owner had the downpipe replaced prior to my purchasing the car so the bolts were not siezed in any way....and a breaker bar sorted the bolts to the uppipe.

About a 4 hour task all in with breaks included which I thought was pretty good for a first go!
