Default BP 102 has any one tried it?

I was at the BP garage in Newport Pagnell Today they had the 102 Octane it is £2.46 a litre. Has any one tried it? is there much difference between that and 99. Or would it be the same as adding octane boster to 99.?

Its not worth the cash unless your going on a track day, and even then its stupidly expensive.
Vpower+ a decent octane booster is much cheaper

surely if you have your car mapped for 98 or 99 and put some 102 in then it will start messing about? i noticed it on my wifes uk wagon it didnt run as well on tescos 99 compared to shells 98 or is it just me?

Fecking Ell Put some in a Posh vase on the Mantel Piece & look at it like a Posh ornament Especially at that price ....

As said above, the difference between 99 Ron V power will be negligible & im certain that the Ole Butt Dyno would not feel it ....

Like any new fuel , you would have to map for it to see the benefits.
V-power + E85 seems a much cheaper and better option IMO.

I'm sure I saw BP 102 at Silverstone for £1.24 a ltr... I was gonna try it, but as stated thought whats the point if the cars not got a map for it...

waste of money unless the cars ignition is advanced for it i e mapped . the engine will just explode the fuel to early to see any real benifit all said knock would probable be next to nothing

mapped a few cars on it.. works nice but you would be better just adding booster etc..

Article in Performance Bikes a few months ago gave the high octane fuels a big thumbs-up : for the BHP increase that can be achieved, assuming you aren't doing big miles, it worked out a better value option than any other ways of achieving the same.
That was in relation to motorbikes but I can't see why a turbo-engined car, when mapped for this, won't also work out ok ?

Tried it when I went to Silverstone as I seem to remember they had standard 95RON, BP Ultimate @ 97RON and then this 102RON stuff (with my car mapped to 99RON)

Felt no difference (not surprising) but it did the job as I didn't need to go wondering around looking for a Shell station and the engine didn't knock when hammering around the track!

Tried it a few weeks back (from the Newport Pagnell garage funnily enough), didn't feel much different to V-Power. Used the Tesco 99 before, but found it less reluctant to rev higher up the range compared to V-Power, which I always use now... Wouldn't bother with the 102 again, unless mapped accordingly...
