I was coasting along at 70mph on a country road when all of a sudden a car shoots straight past me. See that he stopped at the next set of traffic lights I realised it was an Evo. Hang on sec, this wasn't an Evo, wasn't a Scoob. It was an MGF! I wasn't next to him on the lights and there were too many cars around to test this thing, but the bloke was really giving it some welly and the thing was flying (all relative to the slower moving traffic). When I joined the motorway, I saw him again but we both kept to reasonable speeds, so can't comment on its performance at that sort of level.
The botton line is that this looks like a new kid on the block dressed up in the Evo/Scooby kit...Are these things any good - it did appear to be nippy and it had really nice alloys...

I think you are refering to the MG's rather than the MGF..
The MGF is a two seater convertible, which is about to be replaced with the MGTF...
There are three MG's they have brought out recently which are tarted up Rovers basically.. they look a reasonable car for the money.. They are basically the rover car with an upgrade to suspection, wheels, engine and interior etc.. I think the most powerful one is 170bhp.. still FWD though...
Cheers

PS: If you do a search I am sure you will find more info and pictures on the web... maybe Rovers Website might help.

Suby Claire,
Agree with you there... the VVC version is reasonable but still sh1te...
I cannot stand the Rovers full stop... just happened to sit through a Top Gear GTI the other night where they reviewed the MG's.
The new MGTF looks alright though.. and they have dumped the hydrolastic suspension so handling is improved..
Personnally I'd rather have the MR2 or Elise than the MGF though.
The MGF in my opinon is a true hardressers car... two seats, convertible and no power and handles like pooh... annoys me when the Elise and MR2 gets tarred with the same brush...
I am waffling now..

Left one standing on the M40 in my WRX.
No contest.
Very good value for money performance so I hear. So I am not knocking them and there are quicker things than scoobs about
But MG is 170 - 180 bhp ish
Scoob 240 - 300 bhp ish
Cheers

I had a look at the MG 75 Estate version (ZTT?) on the Rover website. I registered and asked them to send me a brochure and some pricing.
That was October last year - I am still waiting!!
So instead yesterday I bought a Ford Focus Estate (for the Missus - I am not giving up the Scoob!) - as MG are obviously not that bothered.
