Default newage audio

Guys

need some pointers on speakers for my 2005 jdm sti. the head unit i have is spot on think it cost the previous owner about 400 quid but the front and rear speakers in my t25 are not the best and do not do it any justice as they are very tinny and high pitched. so i am after some advice on a set of decent front and rear speakers, i am looking for direct repalcements, no spacers etc. i dont mind if i need to fit an amp but to start with i will just be after getting some uprated speakers, whaich i caxn wire in to an amp at a later date when i swap the seats out what are a good make plenty of range and base

cheers

cheers greg

did you run them on an amp or just straight off the head unit and how do you find them.

i dont want to have the doors vibrating like a **** but i want a clear and crisp sound with some decent bass if that makes sense

they are running off an alpine 5 channel amp, real crisp sound and good bass if required, the three way speakers would be your best bet for the fronts

i just run standard speakers for the rear,if you fitted component you would have to cut the door trim for the tweeters to fit

Ok cheers greg

i assume the rear seat has to come out like in the classic's to get to the bolt heads?

and also is there a fitting guide anywhere to removing the door cards as i am sure there are some sneaky little screws?

i assume the door handles need to come off etc to get the door card off so if you know of any fitting guide that would be a big help

thanks

K thanks guys so

3 way in the front, 2 way in the rear doors, what about the parcel shelf?

Could I run the 2 fronts off the head unit then the rear off an amp? Would that be easy enough to do, sorry for some silly questions just I have never bothered with audio stuff before so trying to get my head round a few bits,

is it best to uprate the cabling or just use the standard stuff that is already there?

Cheers

yes you can amp just the rears, but your better off amping fronts and running rears off the head unit, yes sound deadening on the doors and better cabling will sort you out, dont bother with speakers in rear parcel shelf, unless your using a proper sound board,if you can afford to buy a five channel amp,or if you are not going to run a sub,a four channel amp buy one, this will take the heat away from your head unit,by not using the amp in the head unit itself, all high end head units(worth their salt) are ampless they rely on an external amp

I really wouldn't bother putting 4" units in the rear doors. The parcel shelf has holes that can be modified to take a (probably !) 6x9 which will do a far better job of things.

My Focal's (165 VRS) needed spacers, 9mm of ply in the end, but there is plenty of space in the door cards for them and the x-overs.

HTH

4 inch in rear doors, but as stated if you dont mind cutting rear shelf you can get 6x9 in,to be honest i wouldnt spend alot on rear speakers, most installers will tell you to spend that little bit more on front set ups

cheers greg, i will look into the rear shelf, but as is what makea nd models would people suggest for the fronts then?

infinity
focal
alpine

and what sort of money should i be looking at, as i have been searching on the net and i can get a set of focal 165 a1 or ca1 (not sure what the difference is between a1 , ca1) for £90-£110 or some infinity's kappa 63.9's for the same sort of money or then there is the 165 vrs at £260, do i really need to spend that moeny or would i be best getting some around the £100 and then do the rear to for £60 for a set of infinity kappa 42.9's.

just new to the car audio game. so looking for some helpful advice

cheers
