Default Have all Bugeye Wagon's done big miles????

Hi all,

Having navigated in various rally Subarus over the years i've decided to take the plunge and buy one.
I'm in the process of trying to buy a clean tidy and honest 2001/2002 bugeye wagon, but finding it really difficult to find anything with less than 80,000 miles on the clock?

Now admittedly most at 80k have FSSH, but should the mileage worry me?

Budget of around 5k (with a cheap trade in) i'd have thought should get me something decent?

Any advice much appreciated.

Consider the Imports too. More often they have lower miles and are in better condition. Insurance now isn't a problem with the likes of Keith Michaels and A Plan

80k miles with FSH on an 8 year old car shouldn't be a worry either as that's only average. I'd rather a car with 80k and fsh than a car with 25k and no sh.

hth

Matt.

Hmmm....the only one in the North West which you mention i'd already phoned up about, No service history at all...
Perhaps I should rephrase that within a 100 mile radius there seems basically nothing...

I'm always fascinated when people hold mileage up as the be all and end all. The nature of the driving, the quality of maintainance and the nature of the miles are all more important. A car is much better off being driven than sat in the garage. I think you're better off looking for a well looked after car, even if it comes with higher miles. I know of many individuals who clock cars for fun and are very clever with the associated paperwork. My Bug Wagon has 70K on the clock, on an '02, and is sweet as a nut - in fact the engine is better now than when I bought it with 50K 3 years ago. Running 320/320 ish and not a misfire in sight (touch wood).

No Fair points and agree with you, heck I had a BM once with 170K on the clock...!!

My worry is that in the many phone calls i've made this week, i've never before come across such very vague answers relating to service history versus mileage, makes me wonder...lol. Anyhow think i've been put onto a good one via someone off here so many thanks.
