Catalunya Trip
#1
Hi all
Catalunya Rally is coming.......
This year Pete Croney is unable to attend and so I've been given the job of organising the annual trip.
Firstly I would like to gauge the numbers interested. I am in the process of preparing an itinery and will forward by email over this coming week
Previous years formats have been
Meet at Thurrock services M25 about 3pm Tuesday
Catch shuttle at 7pm and drive through Tuesday night to arrive Spain sometime Wednesday morning (depending if we take Pyranees route)
Return Monday at your own leisure
We use radio communications from car to car to keep group together.
Each car must have at least two drivers both insured to drive the car.
Approx Mileage with driving to and around stages - 3K
Over the years the rally has got more and more compact, but for the early bird and on the Thursday prior to event, we can drive the stages - and they are awesome.
Please email me ASAP

Just to let you know, Mark has done the trip with me for the last three years and has been a team leader on every year.
You are in good hands and I'll speak to those very nice people at SWRT to see if you can meet the drivers and see the cars up close on the Thursday.
Wish I could be there, but one of my best mates is getting married (we actually did the first SIDC Cat trip together). This, for me, is the best WRC event of the year. Watching WRC cars at full chat, wearing T shirts and DG's, then blasting down some of Europe's best roads HAS to be experienced. Last years event, with the lead swapped between Burnsy and McRae, from start to finish, was the best sporting event I have seen. In case you've forgotten, McRae won by 1.1 seconds, taking it back on the last stage.
There's a score to be settled I think

Can everyone book the 18.51 Euro Tunnel crossing on 19/3/2001 There web site is at <http://www.eurotunnel.co.uk>
I will organize the radio hire. This will cost each car crew about £20 for the week.
I have made enquiries to the hotel for a 6-night stop over from Tuesday 20th. It is a 3 star with underground secure parking. This includes breakfast at an estimated cost of £12 per person per night. Car parking is extra at an estimate of £5 per car per night. Their web site can be found at <http://www.hotelsamba.com/eng/visita.htm>
We will travel in convoy with lead and back marker cars. These will be equipped with long-range communication equipment. We will refuel/swap drivers at the first services after every 200 miles. Here we will take a 10-minute coffee break as well. Fuel is cheaper in France and Spain.
Costs - approx £400-500 fuel, tolls £60, hotel £72 (per person), car parking £30, plus food/drink and any other fuel costs while at the rally. Credit cards are accepted everywhere including most motorway tolls.
