Very nice as its your first and you may not know everything about these, v power only (highest octane fuel available in our country as these are mapped for 100 ron fuel in japan) get yourself a KS3 knock sensor (there is a group buy on for them, very good bit of kit as version 5/6 cars have a habit of killing the maf sensor and blowing engines up due to that, so it gives you some warning, oh and I drive a version 5 type R so im in the same boat ) mapped for uk fuel is a good idea, but still get the ks3

Have a look in the tech forum archive for the info on the DCCD (that little switch by your handbrake what changes the colour of the square things on your dash) its worth getting to understand what it does and how it does it because it improves your cars handling, and probably one of the most experienced people on here for that version of car is John Felstead, have a chat with him, he is a nice fella and wont bite

Just watch out for induction kits, that kills the mafs on these versions
You have a sharp learning curve coming up these can be quite a fussy car, but deffo get that ks3 knock sensor, will put the link up here for ya

Here ya go better than a knock link as it can be set up to what level you want it and it has an audiable alarm

https://www.scoobynet.com/group-buys...n-kits-gb.html

Though I have both fitted to my car (knock link and KS3 )

Version 5/6 cars were, well how can we put it, known to have some issues because of their 100 ron mapped ecu's and fragile maf sensors, this normally kills the engine (2.5k rebuilds are not what you are needing to be paying for) so the tips are:- no after market filters (the STI one is ok though ) or induction kits as vibration/oil contamination kills your maf which runs your engine lean which burns out your pistons etc and means you need a new engine/rebuild, so hence the link to the KS3 and the suggestion that a remap would be advisable (back up there somewhere).

So a sharp learning curve because you have (one of) the version(s) that need the most pampering to keep them running correctly

Get the KS3 first then they are about 208 delivered on that group buy, all you need is one bad tank of fuel (it happens a fair bit) but this will save you so you can keep her in good condition beeped at me once after filling up at a motorway service station (v power).

You have the option of shoving a bottle of millers octane plus into a tank of fuel anyway

all the orange indicators etc. are usually replaced with an aftermarket version, usually clear with a clear bulb that flashes the relevant colour. ps. i dont know the ins and outs as i dont have this with my model. seen the diffrence on others though, much better
