Thanks. Yea i know lol, everytime i Build/rebuild my own car i say never again and everytime i see something else that looks 'to go to miss' lol. I've wanted an Impreza for years now (since i was around 19 before all the neds and chavs started buying them lol i'm now 29 so i think i've waited long enough).
I bought the car with no interior, gearbox, diff, hubs, wheels, brakes and bumper/lights etc and probably less a few other bits as i'll find rebuilding lol.
So far i've managed to get a gearbox (told it's been rekon'd but no recipts etc but does look like it's been split) and diff delivered for £89 (fleebay bargain ), interior (still need facelift dash and clocks) from an earlier model free, door cards for facelift and a facelift sport bonet (plan on front mount) free and the wheels fitted also free.
Not a bad start so far. The plans are to rebuild it on a budjet as i cant afford anything else, so cutting corners where it doesn't really matter so to speak like the early seats. Once on the road i can then sell my current car and spend the funds on sorting out other bits and peices i cant afford at the moment.
Next job is removing the engine (had head gasket failure but other than that was told it was sweet), stripping and checking everything, then rebuilding with new big ends and a set of rings (should i hone the bores if fitting new rings?). I just want the car running standard power but need it to be reliable hence stripping and checking the engine whilst its out instead of just fitting new H/G.
lol sorry that reads like a novel but at least you know where im at and what i want to be doing lol.

Thanks peeps, i wasn't sure about the colour tbh, i think more cause my current car is silver but the more i see it the more this colour is growing on me .
Yes it can be a gratifying feeling to have built your own car, i'm currently driving an X reg corsa redtop i built my self as well. I love the fact that you get the opertunity to learn all about your car before you get it on the road hence any or most problems you face through owning and driving it are usually a bit easier to sus out. It never feels this way during hitting all the 'problems' during the building stage tho hahaha.

It'll be a slow project i think M444gy so i'll have plenty of time to write things up lmao, yea i might just do that but it's not gonna be built to be anything special, just a basic rebuild to a budjet lol, i wouldn't want to bore you all.
It's just came from round your way Pete, i got it from a guy (Neil) in manchester, think he did say he was a member of one or some of the scooby forums so you might all of seen the car before. It was running 370bhp with andy forrest 20g and 6 speed box and probably a list of other supporting mods to. Fortunatly all the modded bits were stripped and i've just been left with the basic car minus some bits lol otherwise i doubt if i could aford to buy it.
Be nice to see if anyone remembers the car, i dont have any pictures of how it was previously or anything to help out but the reg on it has been on it since around 2005 from what i can make from the extensive history and recipts i got with the car.

No worries at all mate, be nice to see her back to how she used to look. She was a minter when I had her.
That V6 spoiler and the gold wheels look pants (no offense)
Its not an STi, so why try and make it look like one? (albeit without the stickers at least! And I know it wasnt you that did it too BTW )
I'll try and dig out some more photos and I'll email them over to you
Keep me posted
Jeff
I've just noticed on one of your photos its still got the LADS sticker I put in the rear window...
This was just after I did it all those years ago..

Yes it was mate, thats the bottom picture thats in my post with the no wheels etc on it. Got it for a great price as nobody seemed to be bidding on it . The item number was: 220477611895, you should still be able to see the origional advert .

To be fair Jay the bodywork and underneath still seem to be in great shape apart from a couple of daft scrapes. I was thinking about using some shoots underneath to keep the rust away but not to sure yet, i'll wait till i've had it up on a ramp and had a proper look.
It does look great in your photos tho , now i've got something acheivable to work towards.
