I am very new to the os tuning but, it needs to be stationary to do the reprogramming of the ECU. Then you will want to go out on a WOT run and make sure it isnt knocking, then adjust your map where needed and repeat. It could just be an upload of a generic map that may or may not cause knocking in your engine, i personally would avoid if it is the latter.

It takes a little bit more than being a computer wizz to be a mapper, there are lots of other factors envolved in mapping cars, ie mechanical sympathy.
I could map a car and make it go like stink then see it blow up 100 miles down the road

yea the computer knowledge is only half of the battle, you need to have an extensive knowledge of engines, boost, AFRs, knocking, Fuel qualities etc to make a decent safe map. I would avoid like the plague unless he can give you a full technical breakdown of what he does.

Usually for german based cars VW, Audi Porche ........not sure if a 93 WRX can be mapped this way.
As I mentioned above I'd ask Scott at Polar performance

ive just sent him anither message asking how he could map my 93 wrx with standard ecu also why doing it all on his driveway without moving the car ill keep use informed

Generic maps are uploaded with the car stationary and simple errode some of the safety built into the OEM map......... Slightly higer boost and ignition advance.
They rely on cars from the factory being very conservatively mapped.

Won't fit and there is no reason to try and get it to fit either.
No offence but i wouldn't let him near my impreza.
Get the Power Fc and get it done by a professional tuner ,yes it will cost you £150ish depending on who you use which, imo, is a damn sight cheaper than having to replace your engine because someone doesn't know how to map or is just starting to learn how to map.
