I'm looking at possibly selling mine and have had it valued in a px at about 2K, I don't think this is too bad actually. Having looked for a while I can see where you are coming from as all the ones I have looked at are being valued considerably more than I thought mine was worth.
I'm just going to stick it on the usual sites and leave it if it comes to selling.

bought my UK MY99 turbo for £2850 (96k), did 26K trouble free miles in 11 months sold for £1500 cash (one months mot and tax just expired)
I thought that was a good bit of business tbh

you will never get that money back
I learnt a very valuable lesson a few years ago -- i had a golf 16v mk2 which I had from 29k
after 10 years it was on 135k and had been v reliable, but it needed an MOT and so I took it to a garage and got a 1.5k bill (no complaints about the garage etc) Anyway a year later i decided to sell it -- it was worth about 1.7k and I sold it for 1.6k
but it did make me think that maybe I would have been better getting the garage to do the bare minimum -- so that it passed tha MOT (which I think would have come to 500 quid). driven it for another year and I would probably still got 1.1k for it
i would have been a grand better off

The problem you have mate is christmas is looming. If you keep an eye on the market they drop now till about febuary march.
I bought a stunning wagon classic p1 front end etc for 750 quid on new years eve!
For some reason scoobs are like bikes in the way they go up in price the nearer to summer

If I get another classic, I'm really only looking to pay £3K for a UK car and that will have to be MY99/00. And that I'm not happy with as people are asking £3K and you often see then sell for under £2K.
If yours is a 97 WRX then A) its not the last revision and B) its an import.
The Impreza market is about as depressed as you can get. Lots of them about, niche market, lots of tat, no one wants them etc etc.
