stolen cars
with our beloved cars being taken form us against our will. i ask, is there anything we can do to aid in the prevention?
many of us have alarms, immobilisers and or trackers fitted, but is there more that we can do to keep our cars safe? the scum are even breaking into our homes to get keys.
i've been a victim once i don't want to be again!

If someone wants it that much they are going to get it IMO.
I have all of the above fitted on mine and sleep fine at night, if it goes it goes although I would rather it didn't lol.
When I'm at my dad's place we put his works van behind mine as an extra deterrent but aside from getting in my dos bag inside the car with some form of "self defence" not much else I can/will do.
*****Edited to add*****
Funnily enough when at my dad's they did break in but rather than take mine they took his work L200, seems it was easier to get the TV in his than mine.

TBH i think it is a case of doing something like that but really i think i would be better being something more 'Visual'.
I had my corsa broken into a couple of months ago now, there was around 27 cars done that same night in my area. Most were windows smashed and grab what they could but mine seemed different, i had stupidly left the conversion docs for putting the redtop in my car and can only imagine they noticed these as they snapped the full steering wheel off trying to break the steering lock and had been fumbling about the wiring.
The replacement wheel i got was an aftermarket wheel and boss from a friend which i now every night remove and store in the house. I also have the bonnet catch removed and hidden somewhere in the car.
It's a sad day when we have to take drastic measures like these to protect our pride and joys but the even worse reality is the more we do the more of a 'challenge' we give the theiving f***s and to be honest i think this could in a way attract more attention a bit as if it gives them bragging rights to still be able to take it.
Personally the way i see it if the steering wheel is removed and the wheels turned full lock then it cant be as easilly dragged onto a transporter either and it's gonna be totally obvious BEFORE they smash your window and damage the car trying to take it.

I used to do this while I was waiting to get an alarm fitted. It was a PFC though, and AFAIK there's no reason you shouldn't do this. If you do it with an OE one, it'll be relearning every day though won't it?

Open the bonnet and disconnect one of the sensors if you are parking up for a time, cam sensor easy to get at on my classic.
I also have a Diskloc, eletronic mobiliser, alarm and it has a tracker....... hide the keys too if you are worried about them getting nicked from home.
That said if they really, i mean really, want a car they may offer you violence and then it is up to you to decide if you want to let them have the car or fight back.

since my attempted theft (usual kick in the door by 3 guys) i have aquired alot more security at home, my drive is no longer a 2 car drive, it has a wall and gates now with my car on it and the missuses car blocking it in on the road...iv'e put a security post behind my car..disclock and cctv..thats all to go with my usual cat 1 alarm & immob and tracker.
i have also replaced my front door (which i had to) with a 'Rock door'...theres no way that will be kicked in.
but having said all that, away from home theres not alot i can do if someone wants to take it apart from blackjax i suppose. one things for sure though..this day and age if someone wants my keys they can have them..im sure as hell not risking my life for a car

Buy a house with a garage or build a garage
I park mine in a alarmed garage and park my mums Discovery in front of the door.....
On the flipside if they want your car they will get it it's a piece of metal and can be replaced at the end of the day.

Subaru's are P1SS EASY to nick without the keys! No ECU stop them from getting it started once they push it down the road so you will have more chance of it being dumped.
There is also other stuff you can disconnect in the engine bay as extra deterrent!

Perhaps I am lucky because I have a Motion sensor tracker so if the car moves or gets jacked up I will get a call asking whats going on and by that point soon as I say it's not me the police will be on there way.
I like the idea of the new motion tracker because TRACKER can watch it being driven on any road with speed and revs so they know where to guide the police to. Technology is so advanced now it's unreal!

It would be easier to let the baskets take it, saving you and your family from any harm and being left with a wrecked car that will probably get written off.

Hopefully, I don't think mines that easily nicked..

I'd quite happly give them my keys but they wouldn't get off my drive alive, Gun cabinet located close to where I sleep and bedroom overlooks the drive where it's parked
Cleaning the blood of my prodrive seats would be nightmare though!!!

The "tech" is good, but apparently I live in a field....
'Cos the maps they use are four years out of date !
On mine you are allowed six free "Tracker Checks" a year as it's up to the owner to prove that the system was working at the time the vehicle was stolen, in the event of a claim.

Until they realise they can't nick it so smash all the windows, bash and key every panel whilst slashing the 4 tyres. Then pour nitromors all over it for good measure.!!!!

Totally missing the point here i think..........yes ok they could do the damage to the car but the point is the thieving f***witts aren't having the pleasure of joyriding my car .
