PPP ecu to used ecutek ecu MY99/00?
I'm thinking of getting my MY00 UK Turbo remapped. It currently has a full PPP, but I was going to get a second hand ecutek ecu with licence.
How much would it be likely to cost?
Another question: Without changing anything else on the PPP, how much extra horse power/torque can I expect with a bespoke remap?
Thanks

Your running about 240 - 260bhp on your ppp map but if you sold your ppp ecu an ecuteked a standard one i think you would be looking at 280 at the most without altering anything else.
Im in the same boat with a ppp'd 99 uk turbo and with a bigger turbo such as a vf28 or td05 you will be looking at around 320 bhp roughly with the new ecutek map accouting for the new turbo, i think!

Where does the 260bhp come from with the PPP ecu? In the official blurb the MY00 Classic PPP gives 237bhp and 258lb/ft. The newage PPP cars gave 265bhp.
I was thinking of selling my Prodrive ECU, buying an ecutek licenced 800, 801 or 802 , fitting a decat downpipe and then getting a bespoke map done.
What is the going rate for the PPP ECU and a Ecutek licenced ecu? same money?

The official figures are generally thought to be an under-estimate (although I'm not suggesting that the 260 quote is correct either).
The difficulty with buying an ECU with an open TeK licence on it is the risk of buying a standard box from a dishonest seller.
The 99-00 PPP ECU seems to go for quite a bit secondhand. TBH, from both an ultimate cost and financial risk point of view, you would probably be better advised to pick up a standard ECU for less than £30 and flogging your PPP box than trying to find one that has an open licence on it. The initial EcuTeK licence is, what, £150? If so, you would need the going rate for a licenced one to be less than £180 or so for this route to be worthwhile.
Also don't forget that there appears to be an open source option for these ECUs nowadays. Provided the tools are good enough, it's the quality of the mapping that makes the difference.

I have an ECUTEK MY99/00 ECU you can have for 200 quid plus postage, it is currently mapped for a P1 by Bob Rawle who still has my maps on his laptop so getting him to remap it should be fairly straight forward.

Power on these with the ppp is 237bhp on unleaded (though its recommended to run them on 97+ ron only) and 250bhp on super (and its pretty much on that figure too! )
As said, your best off with an 800/801 or 802 ecu and getting it mapped, then selling the ppp one.

I too have a 99/00 ECU with a mapping licence on it sitting in a jiffy bag in the garage. It's supposed to be for my 99 UK Turbo when I get around to remap, but may sell for right offer...
