just came off the phone to them yesterday. paid a one off £45 payment on top of premium and you can now protect your excess. they said it was a new scheme (may well be just sales patter but tbh dont really care), and if you did happen to have a bump and for eg. the damage was £500 and you had a £400 excess then you pay for the damage to be fixed and they send you back the excess (£400). imo good for piece of mind. anyone else got it? ps. my ncb is also protected so all good.
Had protected no claims all my driving life but you can only do it on fully comp,no they dont just put up your insurance try to get insured from scratch for an STI after loosing all your no claims bonus if you badly damage or write it off, trust me its worth.
It sounds good, but why if they are offering this don't they just put your insurance up by £45 and let you have no excess
absolutely no idea, maybe in case they want to contest it. btw you pay for damage and they refund within 14 days apparently. i knocked someone over 6monts ago (not my fault) no claim made, but my repair bill was £900 out of my own pocket. i did not claim either. this would of been good in this situation.

if you make a claim- or have one pending as i did, then you lose 2yrs ncb, not all. and this is in addition to protected ncb. protected excess, the amount you lose straight away on any claim.
