what's best to clean a MAF?

Alcohol, brake cleaner or any other good solvent applied backwards through the sensor/ Don't pay ridiculous money for so-called specific products because they'll invariably be one of the above. One of the easiest ways to con people out of a fiver is to put 10p's worth of alcohol in a bottle and sell it for a fiver to someone trying to avoid a £100 bill.

Also bear in mind that your MAF has an air filter just in front of it, and as a result it is unlikely to be dirty in the conventional sense. If it's knackered, in many cases it isn't because it needs cleaning, it's because it's knackered. If this applies to you, the only way to restore it to 100% condition is to replace it.

Hi,
when you say backwards, do you mean the side closest to the engine, opposit side from the intake?

Yeah, that's it, opposite to the normal direction of flow. Take the sensor insert out of the tube, much easier than pulling the entire tube and airbox top off.
