Default Prodrive power upgrade any other suggestions?

Hi guys looking on the net...prodrive upgrade for wrx 05 is £1600 quid for around 30bhp gain and better torque-any other ideas out there or is this how much one needs to fork out for similar gains? Was recommended JGM site by the forum...Also any guidance/experience on buying an import or should I stick to uk model-so much controversy out there?!! With an import do you get a service record? Appreciate any help

If you are wanting a one stop package solution then here are just a few of the alternative companies..
www.powerstation.org.uk/subaru_tuning.asp
www.scoobyclinic.com/tuning_services.htm

But basically for a WRX it's filter, exhaust and a remap (though the PPP has a intercooler pipe).
The are plenty of good mappers & tuning companies out and here are but a few.. (though some of the very best)

I take it from your post you don't own an Impreza yet?

Which model do you want?

STI is the way to go in my opinion and a modified one will save you £££

A mate of mine has a White JDM 2001 STI bugeye 350/350 in showroom condition. He expects around £7k for that so there are some cracking buys out there.

Imports will be more on insurance though. That's the only downfall with them.

Default Dealer prices bit steep? 05 wrx sri 20k £14000

Yup, you guessed, not an owner just yet! Doing the homework first so that when it comes to owning/modding one I hopefully know which direction/tuning options I have. So much info!!!! Really like the look of the wrx sti 03-05 model but from a dealer they fetching £14000 ish with 20k on the clock-ouch, maybe I am being tight Think will buy private as warranty from a dealer does not cover the usual wear n tear-which if clutch goes you gonna have to pay yourself so might as well save on dealer premiums and get new bits with the cash you saved in the first place. Am tempted by the 99-00 wrx models as well-the classic shape is goooood!

my mate is/was selling his 53 plate, black sti. tein springs, front and rear ARBs, JGM remap, decatted, 350/380 FSH , (cambelt done) 7.5k. there are some good deals out there.

also, another mate has an 06 hawkeye in silver, spec D, (fac. fit. smartnav + full leather int.) 350/375 decatted, front splitter, full aftermarket exhaust system, 23000 miles, 14k ish.

the ppp on the wrx works very well
suits the 5 speed box, plenty of torque
only downsides are the very rich fueling(safety first)
i get 29mpg on a run but could be mid 30's with a re map
and the price compared to whats on offer elsewhere

your best bet is to buy a car with the powerstation pack already fitted mate, more power for your money! dont bother with prodrive performance packs as the dont offer enough power. With the powerstation vehicles you get more power through the range and a much better handling pack woth AST coilovers, ARB's and anti-lift kit. Really you need to do some research and workout how much you are looking to spend next year!
