advice needed on buying first impreza
hello, my brother is about to buy a 2001 impreza wrx sti jdm spec, what should we be looking for?
we have found one that has just been imported, its a 2001 with 83000miles for £6500 is that a good price?
what should have been done to convert it to uk road worthy,i know the speedo should be in mph but is there any thing else that should be done?
and what sort of bhp should it be?
many thanks jimmy

Hi mate there is a thread on this some where under buying guide i think use search option
When you go look at it let it warm right up and listen to the engine to make sure its not ratterling or knocking, check heaters to make sure there blowing hot air. And make sure the box isnt clipping/grinding into gear theres probably alot more that other peole will add.
When there imported kph to mph conversion and rear foglight, and a mot Again probably alot more
Hope this helps

As stated above, foglight, not sure the speedo has to be converted, but it is adviseable, but also a neck needs to be inserted under the filler cap to ensure no 'splashback' when filling. Also make sure it's been undersealed, if not get it done ASAP, just had mine done, only £100 but at least I know its been done right

If its taxed and insured then it should have been either SVA'd or ESVA'd.
The car should have an MOT and hopefully some paperwork to show when it was imported (though sometimes it all gets lost with owners, the V5 will show when it was first registered in the UK).
Then get a speciallist to inspect the car, there are lots of things that go wrong with these if they are not maintained correctly, the list is too long, and for a couple of hours labour its worth the money
