Default Breaker Breaker!

Having been a Subaru owner since Febuary this year and joining this site at the same time, I can't believe how many Impreza's are being stripped rather than being repaired. I've come from a BMW/Alpina background and these vehicles need to be on deaths door ( normally corrosion issues, or crash damaged ) to be broken for parts.
Yet nearly everytime I come on this site there's another Impreza being broken in the for sale section. Yet when you look at the advert the car seems to be in good health.

Is there any reason for this or are they considered disposable?, I love my Impreza ( the Alpina dudes hate that I do ) and would need to be in real dire straits to consider breaking it if anything went wrong.

Why are Impreza's broken so readily

enthusiasts need parts to keep some on the road. they cant all be saved.

I agree though i hate to see perfectly good cars broken for parts.

But how can you do that if people didn't break them as i do think many people buy them but run them on a tight budget so 2nd hand parts are their only way to keep them on the road.
I do think it's a shame when people break when there is **** all wrong with them (i know of 2 Type rs broken for no reason 1 had £15K spent on it!!!)

You can't argue with market conditions. And besides, it's an open question how many genuine enthusiasts there are, and how many are/were simply after a cheap, fast motor.

This happened with the E30 3 series, now you can't find a clean shell for love nor money. Would hate to think of the same thing happening to the scoob

i know, for what my car is so called worth at the mo,it really dosent justify selling, its in great condition and ive put alot of money, time and effort into it,is it just the market at mo or is it truly what they are worth now? does anyone else think the market will climb again in time? as it is just a joke what our cars are worth at this moment in time!

I think that the amount of money people have spent on some of these cars that you are talking about plays a big part in the decision to break them.

I know that the amount i have sepnt on mine that it has more value in bits than i would get from trying to sell it whole unless you can find the one buyer that is willing to spend top dollar.

I dont plan on ever selling mine and it is staying as a pre facelift so its getting more and more rare with the amount that have been facelifted and those that are broken.

The numbers there are, i can't see them ever being worth much... even in another ten years or more. Only the special editions like the RB5 and such will pick up in value methinks

duno look at rs turbos they still sell for what they wor worth 10 years ago. Although they are scarce now maybe thats what will happen to the early classics? Who knows i ve had mine just over two months and drove it for one day its currently having the engine rebuilt including clucth and a full respray new exhaust and brakes all round its a silver 95 wagon wrx

^^^^^^^^^Prime example^^^^^^^^^^^^

Spent more on it than you paid for it already! If i was to sell, which i'm not, I would personally prefer to sell as a runner/complete car, mainly coz i couldn't be ***'d to break it.

The early classics wiil appreciate eventually, it's an investment (Thats what i tell the Mrs)

The wife has a MY99 UK car, 60k miles. Ok we got it cheap a few years ago. BUT will we get 3k for it now? doubt it. I think im gonna remove all the decent parts, fit standard items and sell cheap. If not another one is broken.

You can pick up a Classic Turbo for peanuts now so people who have a costly problem will split a car for the cash sadly.

The Impreza will be a collectable I have no Doubt but it will be the rarer cars that will hold their values.

I do not see that MY UK Turbo will ever be on a collectors list.

Now 22B, Type 25 and P1 for example will be and should not be split in My opinion as they will be collectable (and in the case of the 22B are so already).
