Guys any of you replaced the 6cd changed Headunit yet and popped in a high end double din ? on a new scooby
Ive only had the car a week and to be honest with the CRS thingy it does sound good, but i miss track titles etc, and want Phone prep.
Ive looked at removing it BUT how ? do i have to tug the dashboard, or do i need special leavers to slide down the side of the stereo, Nothing looks obvious.
Thinking of getting JVC n1 or Kenwood, JVC prob cos its cheaper, and front comes off.
Sorry for posting here but not many read the ice section.
Thanks

Hi Littleted
I recently replaced the std unit in my 09 STi. Fitted a Kenwood double DIN with sat nav and bluetooth.
Easy to fit. The radio surround pops off by gently leavering with a thin bit of plastic (I lalso used masking tape around the trim). The brackets then simply unscrew with the radio. If you have steering wheel controls you will need an adapter. As the std unit is wider than double DIN, you will either need small trim infills or an AV panel from a JDM Impreza, which is what I did and all looks as if it left the factory.
Let me know if I can help, and good luck!

Have a look at the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD, ordered mine last Friday. Personally not interested in any SatNav function as I much prefer my portable Garmin. My only grip with the P31000DVD is it does not have built-in bluetooth as it requires the CD-BTB200 Bluetooth adapter but apart from that it's really good.

I have the Kenwodd DNX 7200, its a few years old and I removed it from my previous vehicle. It is brilliant, as it uses Garmin Sat Nav, and even improves the sound quality.
Althoguh good, the Kenwood units look a bit pricy now, due to the weak pound so I understand.

Yes the one incorporating the vents. I started at the bottom, if you search there should be some pics of the removed panel either on this site or generally on the internet.
