Default RAC inspections - worth it?

Had a look on the website and theres two options. The first option they won't do on imports so that lives the + option at £190.

Are these inspections worth it? Say I was buying a V5 STI and wanted an RAC inspection to at least make sure its not 5 cars in one or been maimed at some point. Granted if the engine pops it pops but at least it gives an idea of whether the car is a dud.

So, anyone used RAC and how does it work?

Depends what you are spending on the car and how much you trust your knowledge.

I was planning to do the same when i purchased my scooby but in the end decided to chance it, I was lucky, the car I was looking at was known by a local dealer who sold it 9 months before and it had been well looked after, full S/H etc.
If it was not for this I would not dream of spending £7000 on a car without getting it checked (I am far from knowledgable when it comes to scoobies or car mechanics in general).

A mate of mine (who is far more knowledgeable than me ) was about to buy a car he checked over until the AA inspection threw up some very expensive problems. He was very glad he paid the £200, believe me.

I haven't used them as such, but someone who bought a Subaru off me used them.

They appeared to be very thorough and highlight potential problems to you, however thats about it I'd imagine - as in no comebacks
