urgent advice boost spike

Default urgent advice boost spike

hi all i have a uk classic with a 16g td05 and full decat and hks bov had the car remapped last year and was a beauty. recently i fitted new uprated headers and uprated uppipe sine i have done this when i boot the car it jumps (boost spike) its a real pain in the ****. has nebody got any ideas how too cure this, if i remap the car again will this fix it? i have done a flash code check and all is well please help thanks

Threads like these seem to be like buses. You see nothing on the same subject and then two come along at once. In your case a map revision would be the best solution as you may well find there's extra power to be had in the header and up-pipe swap. Assuming you have an open TeK licence the costs should be relatively small, especially if you go back to the same mapper.

In the meantime, if you want a relatively easy (and cheap) way of reducing/eliminating the spike, and have the standard two port boost solenoid, you need to play around with the restrictor size. Drill it out 0.05mm at a time until the spike is cured - although be aware that this will probably also reduce the held boost a little.

Map tweak is the best way forward though.
