Dial kits for 2003 blob eye wrx
I fancy changing the dials on my 2003 blob wrx and am looking for some dial kits, can anyone recommend any places to try. I have looked on the lockwood site an also trawled through ebay without much luck. There seems to be loads for the classics but I am struggling to find anyone who stocks them for my model.
(160mph version with revs up to 9K), anyone got any suggestions.
Also, is it easy to fit them. I have had the dash out to fit some new dash bulbs but I am not sure the best way of fitting the dials, obviously the unit will come apart somehow and the needles will need to be removed, can anyone advise on the best way to do this. Can the unit be disconnected and done away from the car? etc etc.
I have been busy with the house lately and not done much on the car, I'm getting the urge to mess with summat.
Cheers
Mark

i changed my dials on a vectra i had a few years back. i went for lockwood ones and it was a real nightmare, and i have vowed NEVER to do it again. and i am gonna stick to that statement. lol.
i personally think, the standard ones in my STi are awesome with the STi logo on etc.... certainly not gonna change them.

Andy,
They are actually easier to fit than I thought.
The dash comes out easy enough, the front unclips and then you just slide the new faces over the dials. It takes a few goes to get the new faces to line up with all the warning lights but after a bit of fiddling it looks good.
One problem that i found was that I could not get all the warning lights to line up. I ended up cutting away the new dials so that the two traingular sections either side of the rev counter and the rectangular section below remain uncovered and the new faces just cover the round dials.
It actually looks better like this I think.
You need to connect the dials up to a power supply for the lights.
I did this by trial and error and found that the black and purple wire in the socket on the left hand side of the dash seem to be the ones to use.
To allow a bit oftime for fiddling with the dials you can do all this in an hour.
I'm very happy with the result.
Get em bought mate
oh, just check that the dials turn freely and do not catch on the new faces, you may need some double sided tape
