Anyone else still having problems with the site?
I certainly am. I'm posting in here as I get no reply in bugs.
Pages either take an age to load, or I get a blank white screen, with the message, "done" in the bottom corner on the toolbar, or I get a message saying the connection was reset.
Posting a reply often takes 5 minutes, with the white page alternating with the connection reset, then, finally, I get a message telling me I'm trying to post a duplicate, and, lo and behold, it DID post, but has had me waiting around telling me it hadn't.
What is going on?
The banners telling us what IB were doing have gone. Do they think it's OK?
Posting in here or in bugs elicits no response whatsoever.
Mr Ster seems conpicuous by his absence
Come on mods, Stu, IB, put it right, or tell us/me what you are doing about it, or what's wrong...........please

4 hours, even advertisers are still having problems and NOT ONE REPLY, either from a mod or Stu.
24 hours since I posted in bugs.

Firstly, I'm sorry I am not technically minded enough to really be able to answer the questions.
I can only go by my experiences, and I am still having problems getting on/using the site. I get either 'the connection was reset' or it's very slow, it often works if I refresh the page.
I apologise that this doesn't actually help anyone, but I personally don't know what is happening either. I can only assume that IB are still working on this.
I can only ask for you guys to be patient, and I will post up any further information that comes in.

Hi guys,
I am sorry about this and understand your frustrations... this problem is ongoing and our resolutions are slowly filtering out the issue. We made some configuration changes tonight that should help a lot with the problems people have been experiencing. Please let us know how you find it.
Please remember, this is a malicious DDOS attack by a group of individiualls and not our fault at all and its cost us a lot of time and money to rectify it so far. Further tweaking will perfect it and we will keep tweaking it until the problem is eradicated.

I'll say this now so you won't get your hopes up too quickly alc, and be patient
Its probably going to take quite some time to sort out properly, maybe a week, maybe two more or longer (as the attackers may change tactics). Facebook for example suffers regularly from this, and as a consequence has been slow and unreliable at various times throughout the whole year.
In fact a facebook application has been found to capable of attacking other websites: Researchers Build Malicious Facebook App IB could be attacked by using the same means, in other words Joe Blog's computer, desipte being virus free (viruses are usually the main curlprit) is acting as a drone and is doing all of the attacking on the attacker's behalf. How do you stop Joe blog's computer doing the attacks, without denying John Smith access? Well that's the crux of the problem.
There are a number of ways to stop a DDoS; Find/arrest the attackers (which could be in any country across the globe and even if caught, the attack may continue on an automated script). Find and negotiate with the attacker to stop of their own will. Or configure firewalls to block said attacks.
Obviously the latter has been implemented until the attacks stop (presuming they do, they might never stop! re: facebook/twitter et al) . Problem is how to block false requests from a DDoS and let through genuine requests from a user. That firewall has to be tweaked to try and effectively accomplish that without denying normal users access.
But bear in mind, an attack may come from your neighbour using the same ISP on a virus riddled computer being used as a drone, that in effect could temporarily block your IP pool; Temporarily denying you access.
Its a sad and geeky world out there .
