Question newbie seeking buying advice PLS HELP!

Hi everyone,

i really need some honest advice, ive seen a subaru impreza wrx on a 94 plate, its auto and looks very clean, i would of gone for the manual but due to certain family members auto would be easy for everyone, therefore iam having to level the options.

details:

1994 plate
impreza wrx
import
apparently "300bhp" *yet to be proven,as i'am a bit shocked my self
MOT for 1 year
New Front Near Side Suspension Bearing
New Front Off Side Suspension Bearing
New Green Pads All Round
4 New Tyres Fitted @ Subaru
New STI Rear Lights
New Dual Clear Side Repeaters
New Crystal Clear Front Indicators
New Bumper Clear Indicators
New WR1 Wheel Arch Kit
STI Boot Spoiler With Red LED
Full Colour Coded Wrx Kit Inc Spats
Colour Coded Door Handles & Grill
New Graphite Grey Rally Swoosh Graphics Pro Done By Scoobykits.co.uk
Performance Exhaust System With 6" Backbox (Proper WRX Burble)
Performance Panel Filter (recommended)
Loud Large Dump Valve (sounds great)
Engine Tune & Re mapp (297 bhp)
New Oil Change & Flush (expensive oil)
17" Speedline In Gold Alloy Wheels
Hornet Full Closure Alarm System With Certificate (Lower Insurance)
No Rust Anywhere
Gleaming Silver 406 In Colour

thats the add description?... my main concerns are what are how much would you pay for something with that on the clock and those mods...and honest price?

also what are the common faults you get with them?...was there many on the 94 shape? etc...

some pre buying advice would be great, iam looking to get this if all goes well next week so any help would be wonderfull

many thanks

ty

id want them to be showing me a reciept for all the work done, id be very surprised if it was running 300 to be honest.

as its auto its not worth as much as a manual, id suggest not paying more than £1200.

hth

I'm sure there was a chap selling a mint auto wagon on here for around £1200, not so good if you don't want a wagon, but worth a look. I'll see if I can dig out the link.

thanks guys, i feel a bit more confident now,

its the 4 door saloon version hes selling with the 2.0L wrx turbo lump, not the wagon, so in regards to that, are there any things to look out for which could indicate its been driven badly?

*and yeh definatly looking to see some reciept's regarding this re-mapp and "tune" business stating 300bhp...

Things that would put me off are the sticker kit, the 6" tailpipe, the loud large dump valve and the claim of 300bhp. Just sounds like its been modified with cheap bits found on eBay. Doesn't mean it has been, just sounds that way to me.
Things I would want to know to help validate bhp claim are what turbo is on it, injector size, what exhaust is actually on it from turbo back, is it de-catted and who mapped it?

its a 16 year old car, expect it to look and drive like a 16 year old car and you'll be fine.

Sounds ok to me and being Auto will mean the engine has never really had the guts kicked out of it to be honest!

Just maike sure you listen to the bottom end for any knocking from cold to warm is if you can hear that walk away!

Why did he flush the engine?
As for Green pads (i guess they are EBC) they aren't suitable for standard Imprezas never mind ones running '300bhp' and no brake upgrade.

wrx Autos are a great everyday car mines been great for 3years and they are surprisingly quick for auto. I would defenatly cahnge the pads to atleast ebc ceramic reds because it will be verry hard on the brakes.
make sure you check all fluids including the auto box it should be a nice clean red and not smell of burning (the boxs are great but if they do go wrong is going to be pricey )
any other questions just ask
