car insurance for the scoob ......who you with , comes im getting stitched
at the moment im with Esure and had two months left to pay when i got the scooby ( 03 wrx uk ) so i paid the stupid rise in price and then thought id get a better price when i renew . which is now . i was wrong .
they now want for the year .......................£1200 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im 32 with 7 Years NCB and being friving 7 years . no claims etc clean license so how the hell is that price right . i did it on confused and came up with loads that are cheaper but the excess is high and half the companys ive never heard of . think kwik fit were the best decent insurer at 737 with excess at 350
so who do you use ....................

That is a stupid price to pay. All companies like E-Sure hate mods etc. Gary is very good for mods, so all of mine are declared and I don't have to worry about not being paid out because of a technicality

The original Esure business model was based on low risk business.
I used to insure my Peug 405 with them before I bought my scoob in 2005 and back then they would not insure me on the scoob - I'm surprised that they are insuring them now.
The point being that they do not specialise in scoobs and will - presumably - always price the risk higher than those companies that do.
As others have mentioned, speak to the specialists in the insurance section on here and you should be quoted less.

avoid esure guys. i tried to get a refund an took over a month. also cost a pound a minute if need to ring an plus can only get in touch through email. its stupid. id hate to find out how it would all go down if a claim was called for

Definitely go with Gary.
I was previously with A-Plan, who sell Highway policies, but I didn't like the way I was treated by The Claims Service (who deal with all Highway claims) when I had to make a claim. Accusatory and aggressive about summed them up.

The cheapest is the best if you never claim ..... if you do claim then you want the best customer service.
It's marrying these two up that is the problem.
I'm with Admiral and they want something silly like £345 ..... RAC wanted £253 and Aviva about £260. My preferred insurer would be NFU as their customer service is legendary - but they want £460
Bell want £325 - which seems a middle of the road premium (owned by Admiral).
This is for Business use, declared mod. and 2nd driver with a claim!

I don't think I said any was the best - did I? I'm genuinely confused .... what I said was that, if you do not claim, the cheapest Insurer is the best - which is stating the obvious really.
It's IF you have to claim that the cheapest may actually not be the best.
I haven't claimed on any Car Insurance for decades ......

i used Keith Michaels for my Spec-C (gary) as they were the cheapest.
when i got my 2001 STI i went with (and are still with) A-Plan, as they were the best price.
But as everyone has said, shop around!
