when i unplug mine it cuts out immedietely. u can do a error test with plugs under steering wheel but dunno if maf will show up. fuel cut is when it boosting too high. this is 1 thing but another is fuel not getting to cylinders but this would happen even on idle or cruising etc but if only happening on full throttle its sounds as if fuel cut. check all your boost pipes are in place

it only just kept running might be cos the car was still running on choke
have checked all the pipes and all seem fine from what i can see

the car had just come off the rollers and they said there was no issue with the boost 1.4 (didnt happen on the rollers , but did on the way there and back)

and it only does it on full throttle

think i need a visit from jgm

thanks for your help

Did you get the air/ fuels done when it was on the rollers, reason i ask is because i had the same problem turned out to be a falty maf which caused her to run lean which in turn caused engine damage (low compression on number 1 cylinder) so just a warning incase you are still driving her everyday

I wish people would stop repeating this cr*p, it proves nothing one way or t'other. Helps nobody and in many cases causes more problems than it solves.

I have no idea how it started, but then again I'd put a reasonable amount of money on you not knowing either so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make. It's one of many urban myths that float around this place getting repeated seemingly without question. Until someone questions them, which is where we're at now.

seeming though on this site all we do is try to help eachother
I appreciate your intent may have been to help, but whether you like it or not, posting duff info is not the way to do that, and the nature of online forums is that someone posting info that is wrong is going to get corrected at some point.

Unfortunately this particular "test" is sufficiently wrong that you could lead someone to cause serious damage to their engine by following it and accepting its results at face value.

an im njot experienced as u an u probably made the subaru by the sound of it. if u know his problem u say yourself as your info could be ****!!!!!
Eh? Any chance we could have that again in English, please? I've answered Phil's post in the other thread he started. My information could be ****, but probably isn't, givenit's based on extensive first hand knowledge both of the behaviour of the car in the real world, and of the way the ECU responds at code level to different sensor inputs, including signal drop-outs and error conditions.

More than enough to know not only that your test doesn't work, but also to know why. Would be great if it did, as we'd all love an easy way to spot a failing airflow meter, but unfortunately your "test" can "pass" dangerously degraded sensors as good, as well as damage good ones. You might have meant well when you said it, but in practice myths like this do more harm than good, and unfortunately there's only one way to debunk them.
