I passed 1st time , but my mate's test went 'a bit' wrong... one of the dual controls came loose, jamming the throttle, and he demolished a set of traffic lights!!!

Owain McRae.

Passed first time, but then proceeded to take my mums car out in the evening. Didn't see the tight bend sign, as it was covered by an overhanging tree . Doing about 50 in a renault 5 at night.....90 degree bend.....turned wheel, hit kerb, took corner on two wheels (a la Italian Job), plonked wheels back down when it straightened up.....

Girlfriend wasn't very impressed

1 - Turning right back into the test centre (doh) I decided I had already passed and did not use the filter lane, there was no traffic around, so it was not as if it made any difference. The instructor then decided to ask me 18 questions, which I got right, before telling me I had failed, grrrr.
BTW - I drove 100 times worse on the retest and passed

edited because the first reply went AWAL

Mate of mine failed his bike test by running over the tester ... tester stands in road and signals emergency stop. Mate on RD250 slams on anchors, wet road, loses front end and scythes tester down. Needless to say, didn't pass.

Brickboy - LOL - I can visualise it right now!

Passed 1st time despite instructors insistence that I was 'over-confident'

Speaking to someone at work the other day who had just failed for the fifth time!

Surely there should be a cut-off point..... If you can't pass it by the fifth time, when you finally do, it will probably be a fluke!!

Third time.......

The first two times i got a Female examiner........Oops sorry.....

I got the most obnoxious, overbearing ,fat middle aged 'lady' (obviously never had sex)
(same one twice!!)
who didn't like young men (i was 18) passing their test.(just to let you know i was taught by a woman and she said i should have sailed it, Until she saw who i got as examiner!!)

The first time i was a bit nieve thinking i must have done something wrong .....the second time the reason i failed was that i continued to reverse when a car was nearby.....

Nearby ....nearby the bloody car was three streets away and went from left to right (imagine old style terraced houses) It never came within 150 yards of my position.

I got back to the test centre was given the paperwork ,so i went to my instructor and told her what happened.....

She wnet straight into the test centre and lodged a formal complaint...There and then.

Needless to say next test (about 2 weeks later) i got a different examiner, end of the test he said "o.k. through out you've made 1 minor mistake " " i keep giving a quick glance to check which gear i'm in" i replied

" o.k you know what your doing wrong correct it ,you've passed"

Sad old bag has never worked at that test centre since, it seems that there had been a stack of complaints from driving schools that young blokes were failed for false reasons...

M.

1st attempt - saw nice-looking girl, crashed into car in front - fail
2nd attempt - saw a few mates, wound down window, shouted abuse - fail
3rd attempt - was starving so opened lunch box and started eating sandwiches - fail
4th attempt - did emergency stop outside chip shop, nipped in for a portion, left engine running - fail
5th attempt - tried to bribe examiner - fail
6th attempt - got a mate to take the test for me, he failed
7th attempt - stuck in traffic, nipped round right hand side of keep left sign, got past 10 cars - fail
8th attempt - car broke down after getting stuck on bollard during 3-point turn - fail
9th attempt - took short cut through park - fail

Met fantastic girl at a night club - guess what ? She's a driving examiner. Got on really well. She fixed it so she would examine me.

Given up taking tests now

Never failed any yet...

1) S.Ireland (despite forgetting to check at an (Irish so not signposted!) give way - luckily clear)

2) London - No probs

3) London - Bike test 1 week later

I know that I could've swopped Irish licence for English, but decided I might need 2 licences! Oh well, didn't so I could've saved myself some money/anquish

I passed my test first time, on both occasions!!

Took my dads big, big Zodiac Auto for the test (no lessons, no nothin'!!) and passed first time - THEN found out I could only drive an AUTO!!! So, .....

Had to take it again, in a manual, the instructor MADE me take ONE lesson before I went in and passed again first time

Took TWO attempts at my motorbike test mind you!!!!!!

Failed the first one, had the Master driver (NI) was in army at the time, this was the TOP examiner..... failed due to not enough checks in mirror and indicating
