Hi, new member with a question?
Hi I am new to this forum and joined purely because i love subaru's! Unfortunately i can't afford one just yet (hopefully June 2010)! I was wondering though as I was looking through the 25 and unders bit what insurance do you all go with? Im getting quoted stuff like £3500 next year on my dads policy? Do you have any ideas anyone on how i could reduce this price as i have been stuck with the two worst cars ever in my driving time so far and I think its time to get a proper car...
Thank You..
Thank You..

Welcome
What exactly is your budget and what are you after car wise?
You have what we call the classics, these were produced between 1992 to 2000 in both UK and JDM markets, then there are new age cars, bug eye's were produced between 2001 and 2002, then we have blob eyes, produced between 2003 to 2005, then hawkeyes between 2006 to 2007 then the hatch from 2008 onwards.

Judging by your username I'm gonna guess you're 20. Frankly mate you're gonna get your pants pulled down by most half decent car insurance companies!
Only legal way to get the premium down would be to try other places for insurance. The usual ones I can think of would be : a-plan, greenlight, keith michaels, adrian flux and norwich union on occasion.
btw, i'm 30 with 3yncbs and was recently quoted £700 from keith michaels with all my mods declared on a classic type ra (there's a lot of mods lol!) which I didn't think was too bad.
Some of the other guys might be able to point you to other places too though.
good luck and welcome to SN!!!

Thanks to all your replies i will try them. scoobymad555 yeah unfortuantely am still young so i am aware of high prices but still wondering if am able to get it cheaper ! TonyBurns my budget is about £10,000 on the car alone and cheap as possible with insurance... am WANTING a hawkeye in black but would have a blobeye in black WRX model because i reckon the STi would be hidiously expensive? I have driven my mates blobeye WRX numerous times and love it so i feel its also quick enough for me right now? Am I right in saying i could always mod it big time to get it to go a lot faster?

Are you having qoutes on uk spec cars ? As the difference in price was shocking for me over a grand cheaper for a uk classic have you thought of getting a sport in the meantime?

You mean like this?
REDLINE SPECIALIST CARS LTD : SUBARU IMPREZA 2.5 WRX 4DR
Avoid the STI's, they will crucify you with insurance, even lightly modified wrx's will add to that, but try Keith Michaels or Aplan, dont be amazed if your paying 1500 quid for insurance though, and the more you modify the more it goes up

with keith michaels and a-plan there are specific people you need to talk to for the best prices mate - guy called Gary at Keith Michaels (user Moley_wrx on here) and I can't remember the name of the guy(s) at a-plan to ask for but i'm sure someone else can say

the problem i had when getting insurance was experience !! my previous cars were a bmw 320i SE and then i had a scooby sport, im 38 got 4 yrs no claims and when i got my 94'wrx the problems i had were that it was an import and that i had no experience in driving a car with that power according to them - mr liversidge (forgot first name) at A-Plan was excellent with me and i got a great deal in the end
