Default Scoop....on a non turbo

Some of you will know by now I own a bugeye non turbo (will get a turbo one day...lol) however I really like the bonnet scoop which is naturally going to be for looks only.

My question is would I have to replace the whole bonnet complete with scoop?

Thanks Helen

Whole bonnet swap, unless you bond a scoop on to yours.

There was 1 guy over on ISN that relocated the induction kit to the back of the engine and made up ducting to allow the airflow from the scoop to be of use.

TBH as an ex sport owner, I wouldn't bother. If you do mod the car, do the suspension, brakes, wheels and seats. Spoiler is optional.

Will definitely be a case of finding a turbo bonnet on eBay or something. That's what I did

Wouldnt a bond on one look odd?

I have already done the other things you mentioned

That's an idea, i had it done to my R5 GT Turbo with an Evo bonnet vent. You can also choose from various styles too.

Yes, but if its non functional, whats the point in the expence of replacing a bonnet?

Seriously though, I wouldn't do it. You'd be better off putting the money towards some driver ed / skid pan training.

My sport had, wrx wheels, suspension, interior, decat stage 1, Wr sport backbox panel filter and a couple of other things which I forget. I changed my car earlier this year to a brand new D TC (WRXD) and I wiped £160 off my insurance. Its now £305 for a brand new car.

You see, you get to a point where your just putting up your insurance, because despoute its lack of power, it will stand a higher chance of getting nicked becuase someone will think its a turbo.

As I said earlier, it would be money better spent learning to drive it faster.

Fair point with ref to being stolen/higher insurance.

Thumbs down

for the love of god dont go down the bonded scoop route they really do look cheap and tacky and there are enough pound shop kitted imprezas about you really dont want yours to be one of them. i would strongly recommend getting a genuine turbo bonnet! bonded scoops are definately on a par with lexus style rear lights lol

The best thing to do is forget about wasting you time and money sticking things on here and there like Max Power meets Blue Peter.
Save your money, get rid of the car and buy a Turbo, you know it makes sense

Don't bother with a turbo bonnet, leave it as it is meant to be.Nothing worse than trying to make a car look like something its not its on a par with STi stickers on a non STi car

Hey Helen as discussed with your other half if you do get a wrx bonnet and scoop there's plenty of peeps on here who might take your sport bonnet who are running front mounted intercoolers. So although it may make your car look like something its not i think the cost would balance out through buying and selling. But at the end of the day its your choice

I just like the look of the car with a scoop

I get more waves as its more recognisable as a scooby

Helen i understand why you would want to stick the scoop on, it looks a lot better i think. Don't let peoples comments put you off the idea, if you want to have a turbo bonnet go a head with the idea, its your car not theres!

You could either change the whole bonnet completly or get a bond on type scoop off ebay.

This is mine now. I have a new bumper to but on but its not painted yet. I think it looks better with the scoob than without.

Go for a proper bonnet though and it will look good
