Just putting some Anti-freeze into my car and noticed the the clear plastic reservoir thing looks empty. I cant see any water at all ![Ponder2](https://www.scoobynet.com/images/smilies/ponder2.gif)
I assume all Anti-freeze is basically the same. Mine is CarPlan Blue Star, with coolant....if i added the whole 1ltr bottle to the water tank (if it fits) and then top up with water if there is still room, would i overdose the car?
I am not going to drain the system just top it up
Advise anyone?

I haven't put any in for a long time so what is in there is negliegent.
I dont know how much the cooling system holds you see. If the car holds more than 4ltrs then i think i can add 1ltr of the antifreeze if its meant to be 1 part antifreeze to 3 parts water.

Then i wont need to dirty jugs etc with measuring stuff out

The bottle also says for optimum protection i can add one part AF to 2 parts water....oh, foof it i am going to stick the whole lot in

I hope the system doesnt just hold one pint of water

you can't overdose it on antifreeze, if you overfill the expansion bottle, it will just overflow if the cooling system vents into the bottle... if you meant the actual mix strength, then mixing it stronger than recommended can have the same effect as mixing it weaker, i.e. the cold temp's it protects from will be reduced, although adding 1 litre to the expansion bottle of neat antifreeze won't have any noticeable affect on the mixture strength in the cooling system. I would do as helen says purely for peace of mind,
(don't fill it to the top though, there are 'max' and 'min' lines on the expansion bottle, you also need to check the level actual level via the top filler cap when the engine is cold as the coolant has gone somewhere.)
you don't need to drain the system, you can buy a testing kit that will tell you the strength of the mixture they are called antifreeze test strip.

I think i may have over filled it then. I didnt see any lines. Am going to have to get the turkey baster out to suction some out now
