Just a quick tyre question
I im thinking of fitting the toyo 888s
I will be using them on and off the track
How will these perform on our roads in the dry/wet?
I dont want to waste my money
Cheers

From: Slowly rebuilding the kit of bits into a car...
1. they are noisy like land rover knobblies....
2. they have less tread than road tyres
3. they are a soft compound, mine did 6000 miles and a trackday to reach the legal limit, will do another trackday easy.
4. they are excellent in the wet, but aquaplane in an instant with standing water of any real depth.
5. Awesome dry road grip.
I vote yes for the summer.

Summer only as Dunx said, you will suffer badly in winter with the cold, wet and icy conditions, if you have a new age then the Bridgestone RE070's are a better compromise as the 888's will be outlawed for road use shortly....

I was thinking of getting some Road legal track tyres until i drove to Brightion, Its was very wet with alot of standing water on the M23/A23 And im so glad i had some proper all weather tyres. I think this has put me off buying RLTT. The only thing that makes me want to buy some is because they are going to ban them soonish, is that still happening? it would be nice to see what difference they make.....

Hey Dannytwo, hope your doing ok.
I only use the 888s now for everything (mainly as I have a few part worn sets). I have no issue with them no matter what the weather. Even use them on wet track days.
To be honest though, I wouldn't buy a brand new set at this time of year if you were driving it every day. But if you weren't, and you had no plans to swap the tires every few months then go for it. Drive sensibly in the cold and wet (as they can catch you out), and then when its dry you can give it beans.
See you Sunday I hope. I saw you had your name down.

First time I used 888s (driving to track) I stopped in a lay-by to check the car as they were so noisy. Expensive option for road use, expensive for track as well for that matter. Depends how much fun you want and the compromise you're willing to accept.
