Hi noob here - prospective buyer
Hello everyone.
My names Simon i'm 23 and from Suffolk. I'm currently looking to upgrade my car, (2.0 Honda Accord). I was originally looking for a Type R Accord but then remembered Scoobs.
I want one of the older ones with the square headlights. Can anyone point me in the direction of model info, insurance group etc. What's the difference between WRX and STi? I've seen a few for sale within my budget of 5k, but some say insurance group 17 and some say 20? I love the 0-60 time of under 7 secs.
Great forum with lots of info too.
Cheers,
Si.

To get sensible insurance, buy a UK car.
To get sensible reliability, buy an unmodified car.
£5k would get a very tidy UK Impreza Turbo Model Year (MY) 99 or 00.
Look for few owners, one owner is to be preferred - especially if that is a mature owner.
The Wagons tend to be better looked after than saloons - and are better handling/faster

Thanks for the replies.
How do i tell the difference between UK and Import cars? Are there anythings i can look at on the car or look for in the ad for the car?

It's the Classic Car you want .... like this?

The differences between WRX (import) and 2000 Turbo (UK) are numerous - best to ask the question before viewing. Insurance, at 23, will be a big factor in your selection.
Just stay well away from chavved up toys, modified thrashed wrecks and dump valve dogs .... an aftermarket backbox is about all you should accept - anything else will ruin its cast iron, bullet proof reliability (and points to the owner as a rally-wanna-be).
