Thinking of buying an Impreza.
I quite like the idea of an Impreza, currently have an e34 M5 which i might retire shortly!!
Have up to £12k to spend. I know very little about Saburu,s. Want a late model/low mileage car in standard condition and without a huge rear spoiler.
Could someone give me a model rundown and maybe some advice on what to get. Hoping to get slightly better mpg than the BM ie 20-30.
Thanks in advance

sounds like your wanting a hawkeye (2005-2007 model) impreza. probably get a STI spec d. which is basically a toned down STI. it is grey in colour and hasnt got the huge spoiler. also expect low 20's to the gallon!

For low miles, decent economy, insurance and looks i'd be looking at one of these...

If you look in my garage (click on the link above my avatar) you can see my Spec D. Only very lightly modified and an example of a discreet STi.
I recommend you get an STi over a WRX personally. Running costs are the same, despite popular misconception. They are the same tax, the same insurance group and the mpg is the very similar bit varies as to what type of driving you do. STi has 6 speed box so is naturally better on motorways and A roads, whilst the 5 speed WRX is better around town on the fuel. Thing is the STi is a far better package.
Mine was for sale earlier in the year but you would be about £1-2k short of being able to buy something similar to mine. There is of course always the odd deal about from a desperate seller.

There seems to be plenty of wrx,s available. A few are described as sl models-what are these?
Have only seen one sti on Autotrader(in budget) Will one of these be a lot more. A local dealer is asking £17995 for a 57 plate.

looking on line you can find loads of wrx's in your budget but the interior is rubbish grey and black seats! the older models like mine the interior seating is better.
I would looki for a 05 plate sti with less that 50k on the clock between 10-12k graham walker has some good ones at the moment the sti is a better motor although i love my wrx! the sti feels a better car even just to sit in
