ok brought my 2005 wrx 2 days ago and i must say im gobsmacked

i just sold my mk1 golf 1983 with a 20v s3 engine running 300bhp dont get me wrong it was a fast car only problem was too much wheel spin to much power to keep down

today i had a shot out at traffic lights on a dead dual carriage way with a m3 i couldnt belive the launch 4x4 (never had a 4x4 before) unbeliebable and how the car kept going going glad i brought this car

 

i still get gobsmacked every day by are lass when she's falling over piles and piles of receipts for parts and parts and more parts that i had blown all my money on over the years.welcome to tuning heaven.

 

my car is standard what u guy recommend for a light tune money is tight ?

and also might sound childish to u guys but whats the safest and best way to lauch lol

 

the normal first step is panel filter,exhaust,remap.should open up a few more horses.

 

The first thing you want to do is accept that there are no real cheap routes.
If it was me
performance panel filter insert
walbro fuel pump
decat exhaust system and maybe a sports cat downpipe for mot.
remap
this is gona cost around a grand but will totally tranform the car,save up you won't regret it.

if API is near to you mate i would say give him a call or bob in to see him.he has a very good name on hear so i dont think you will go far wrong.

these subaru suck petrol proper 95 quid in 26 hrs lol and 12 hrs of that was sleep

You could save yourself a bit by doing some of the work yourself it al depends if you have the tools and are prepared to give it a go but if you dont enjoy this sort of thing its probably best you get someone to do it for you it can s end up more expensive if you have a few misshaps due to inexperience.Panel filter yes yourself.
I think you would be looking at 300bhp maybe more ,(not sure on your model) once mapped and will be so much better to drive if done properly.

 

my car is a subaru impreza wrx 2005 saloon 225 bhp i will be driving the car everyday to and from work mainly only 3 miles each way but would like the extra bhp

 

Prodrive or Eibach lowering springs uprated anti roll bar and drop links will transform the handling

is it easy to change walbro fuel pump my self i know a bit bout cars

 

its about an hours job,quite easy.i think there is a link on how to fit one on jolly green monsters website.

 

I remember when I got my 1st impreza and it fooled me into thinking it was a fast car by having a good 1st gear. After 2 days I then realised there wasn't much in it after that.

and then after that steve as you well know,its all down hill from there.or atleast for your pocket anyway.

 

1st and second gear is nice slows down a bit down after that

thats why i need more power if all gears are like 1st and 2nd i be happy

 

Remove rear seat or fold down if a wagon or uk with folding seat
pull back the carpet in the boot on drivers side
You will see a raised part oval with four screws holding it on
remove it
unplug the electrical connection (the fuel pump and fuel level wiring)
remove the petrol cap to release pressure
run the engine until it stalls
remove pipes on top of tank
undo 8mm nuts holding the tank top on
Lift out the tank top, and cage attached to the bottom
the pump is in this cage etc..
you will need to rotate the cage to get it out

remove the pump from the cage and fit the walbro.. if a newage then the pump will plug straight in and also the same on 99iirc..
if earlier car you need to cut the connectors off and connect the new one etc..
use the OEM filter sock on the new pump.. not the walbro as it is less efficient
and doesn't drop to the bottom of the tank.
cable tie the pump to the cage if it doesn't feel secure.
Refit the cage to the tank, making sure the rubber seal is aigned correct..
refit pipes and plug pump back in
replace cover
replace rear seat

i think that seems pretty straight forward hope i dont mess it up

 

When I 1st got my last impreza it was the same power as yours, I said I would never mod it You always want more, as I still do

 

One of the best things i did to my 03 WRX was to put in group N discs and ferodo DS2500 pads, the brakes were terrible when given even a little hard work and brake fade was a regular thing. More power isn't always quicker

when i had my mk1 golf 20v turbo i also had a fiesta tdci ghia on a 56 plate 65mpg to go to and from work and mk1 for weekends but i sold both last week and had 13 grand to get a new car and my brother said get a subaru guess what it did

only had it 2 days the problem i got is its the only car i got now lol to go work to go shopping to do everything i think i need a metro to go work lol

i think i made a mistake this car is a arm robbers dream car i got a sofa infront of my door if any one **** for keys lol

glad to hear you like it, i was in your situation aswell, i was reading books on this site etc etc THEN i went to mark at thwaites developments warwick, if you want the best service i.e. all mechanical, electrical, mapping etc under one roof through a professional scoob technician at a very fair cost, make sure you go there, trust me scooby ownership completely changes

nice just had a look on route planner he 30 miles from me

 

ye lol same as me im from birmingham, half hours drive and always worth it, ill always rememba the drive home after he remapped it, felt like its going to come off the ground lool
