Done a car check and it came back as it may be a write off but because it has had private plates on further invesigating is needed. Anyone else had this before ?

I bought i CAT D 2/3 years ago, was a great car and got a good discount. all depends on whether you know what to look for though.

Legally you shouldn't be able to buy anything worse than a CAT C, so CAT B should as i remember it be fit for parts only. CAT A is a crusher only etc!!

Look for welding on the chassis and get a full inspection from the AA or RAC, worth the £200 to know beforehand

I dont think it isa write off. its had 5 private plates on it by the look of the report. original was on as recent as 27 aug 08 and private on 27 aug 08 till 29 may 09 when another private plate went on 29 may 09 till present.

write off classes
cat a crusher only no parts can be removed
cat b parts can be removed but shell must be crushed
cat c can go back on the road but must have a sva test first
cat d can go on road without an sva test

mine flaged up when i did the checks but it only showed as import and had a plate change
