Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what the horrible smell might be when I am accelerating either stationary or moving slowly for eg in reverse?
Car is warmed up but stinks and cna smell it in the car or outside. Just wondering if its the turbo?

if it smells eggy its the cat, if it smells like a public toilet/p*ss/amonia then it is the clutch, and if it smells thick and chokey and stings the back of your throat it is an oil leak normally found on the o/s rocker cover or a perished oil return pipe from the turbo leaking onto the uppipe? hope this helps.

thanks for all your help.
will check the engine compartment out for anything leaking.
hopefully not an expensive fix
no oil marks on floor, performance of car ok and no weird noises just the smell when accelerating a bit when not moving much

I get an awful smell when reversing up my steep drive in my 06 hawkeye. Assume it's the clutch. Came as a shock & worry to me when first got mine in Nov 09 but now I'm used to the clutch (got biting point better & used to it generally) I don't get much smell anymore although if I'm in a rush it does appear.
