Default BOV Cleaning

Hi all

i have an 02sti ppp with an aftermarket BOV fitted to the intercooler,
(has been on the car for about 2yrs now).

1. how often should this be stipped down & cleaned?.

2. What should i use to lubricate it or should it be re-assembled dry.

regards

shaun..

There shouldn't be any need to clean a dumpvalve. It will be lubricated naturally by oil vapour running through the breathers and back into the induction path - unless of course you've fitted a catch can.

Good evening Spitpin.

If the BOV is a Baileys dump valve, then yes it will probably require a strip down every now and again. If you have got a baileys Shaun, then keep quiet... I think these are deemed as sh_te and although they sell for around £60 2nd hand on eBay, they are not worth using.

My car came with Baileys DV when i bought it last year, this was the first thing taken off..... Having the DV sat in the shed for 6 months its now here along with the rest of my Subaru clearout, phase 1 of listings: eBay Seller: r-s-r-signs: Vehicle Parts Accessories items on eBay.co.uk

The bailys comes with some small hex screws to undo, then the spring pops out along with the piston. I used WD40 to clean and poped it back together and tested it

HTH

you should clean it 1nce every six months if ur pernikity about oil driping from it and getting it a bit manky as when the pressure release the oil can sometimes be sprayed everywhere if it gets really bad , bought a v2 sti wagon last year and the underside of the hood was like bloodspatter everywhere lol it is not compulsory though but would definately not go a miss

Definatly... standard JDM STI's run well ine excess of 300 with the re-circ. I had it on good authority they can take well over 400.

I have a UK300 too, think my name is a give away

Hi all,

Thanks for all the replies, its not a baileys dump valve, i have done search & it sold by demon motorsport...

so just to clarify, strip it down, clean it with wd40, & do i need to apply any light grease or assemble it dry??

regards
