Snow in the Scoop

Snow in the Scoop
Over these past days I have left the snow in the scoop ... as it melts it cools the IC (same as a water spray I guess?) - pulls like a train
I'm now putting it in before I drive off, it's a cracking free upgrade .... all be it, temporary.

Are you prevent air passing through the intercooler by filling it with snow>? Sounds a little dangerous unless offering it in by moderation.
Anyway - Car mapped 3-4 weeks ago now, and not one day to test the power, Can not get traction in all gears..... booo

I did think about the air being blocked, but some people pay ££££££££££££'s for a front mounted and then block it with a numberplate ..... I doubt a bit of melting snow would be any worse - surely better?
The temperatures are so low, all I am doing is cooling it still further I think? Anyway, it's free - safe - and makes quite a remarkable difference in pulling power.

contact with a hot "de-cat" exhaust could prove disastrous
and I doubt your insurance would pay out in the event it went up in flames
(Although apparently these symptoms can be alleviated by a "blow off" valve - what ever that is!!!)

I hope you are aware that snow is highly flammable when inside a Subaru engine

I dont think the lack of air flow is a problem as the snow is pretty darn cold, it's going to be replacing the job the air would do and probably to a better extent bringing your charge temp down

Just got back from work .... luckily the car park at work had ample free snow - I filled the scoop up and whizzed home, the power increase is truly amazing ..... the freezing/melting snow really does lower the charge temperaturs massively.
There is steam coming out of the scoop, which actually looks really cool at the traffic lights - everyone was looking over, thought my engine was on fire!!

The ladies flock around me ...... but that's not because I ring my bell
And, as for ones in School Skirts, that just won't do ..... I'm old enough to be their Great Grandad!
Ice Cream maker won't be as good as an Ice Maker .... I was wondering about that dry ice in Discos - would that have the same effect as snow melting I wonder? But I could offer an Ice Cream Scoop with your idea!
I suspect my BHP has increased by, at least, 30% with this melting snow - might book a rolling road.

Only on the fast roads which were clear - the increase in performance was remarkable is all I know.

They must have thought it was Thomas the Tank engine and the fat controller.
