Default snowy Scoob pic - it's what our cars were made for!

On the way to Hexham over a deserted Pennines road (A686) this morning. Temperature outside: -14C. Road ploughed in some places (was OK where I took this). Winter tyres and AWD = no problem - it's what our cars were made for

Lovely pic

Some of the scenery at the moment is breathtaking!

I drove with the snow on my roof the other day and when i braked at some lights all the snow ended up on the window screen. I panicked as i couldn't get it off with the wipers as there was too much. I felt so stupid having to get out and do clear it off in a queue of traffic

I was glad that it happened there and not when i was driving along though as it could have been pretty dangerous

Impgb - running Michelin Pilot PA3s at the moment. They're pretty good if a little pricey. Second winter on them - will probably go for something a little cheaper next winter like Vredestein Wintrac

Sara - yeah, had that happen to me as well. You do feel a bit daft don't you?! I've had to clear the snow everytime I've used the car as we've had so much that I could see myself toppling over on a bend through being top-heavy

If it happened in any other car than a Subaru then it wouldn't be so bad. You just know other drivers are thinking, 'what a ****'

I gave my car a mohican and just took the snow off the sides of the roof but it was still enough to cover the window when it slid down.

If i lived where you are i would be too busy looking at the scenery to watch where i was going. I bet the roads are pretty empty of traffic though. How cold has it been there?

We're really lucky here Sara - there are lots of fantastic fast flowing A and B roads, almost completely deserted and not a speed camera in sight. The bad news is that from early November to late March, roads are covered in crap and salt.

We've had down to -17C here - think they got down close to -19C in Carlisle yesterday morning.

I like the sound of a mohican - did you dye it green?

Foofing heck, thats cold
Yeah, salt is not a cars best friend.

The mohican did look pretty cool until it ended up on my window screen. And no, green would have clashed with yellow

Glad you're liking the pic guys (and gal ) I might try and get the old girl up to the top of the Alston - Teesdale road (over 2000ft high) for the next photo shoot. Apparently they've been using snow blowers up there and the road is walled on either side by over 8ft of snow
