Thats very cheap, I would still get the car checked over (full service and inspection) to be on the safe side as there may be an issue with it (you never know until its too late ).

Normally the sunvisor has japanese writing on it, as its an MY00 car (jdm's required the clutch to be depressed to start the car, starting on this year STI's, not on uk cars), intercooler water spray (manual on the standard STI), electric folding mirrors, no nasty subaru badge on the boot not normally fitted with front fogs (covers), red stitched steering wheel (momo).
Sounds like yours is a version 6 (hopefully if its an MY00 ) STI but it was very cheap, was the guy in dire straits or something?

Tony

PS, still go for a full checkup and get something like a KS3 knock sensor fitted, these cars require 100 ron fuel if they are not mapped for uk fuel (v power and octane booster is the safest bet).

his GF is 7 months pregnant and the already have an 08 plate seat so that maybe cant aford both

Should have an electric ariel and its in the rear lhs quarter i think (mine has it on the pillar but its not a normal sti )
Still recommend a KS3 (do a google search for phormula KS3) should pull it up

If its a STi6 you've got yourself a bargain! Oh the 'normal' 5 door STi6 has abs so doesnt come with intercooler waterspray, that would be found on the Type R and RA, the rest of what Tony Burns said is spot on though

These can have the ecu remapped, costs about 650 quid, make it run better on our fuel, don't need to go silly, 320bhp is about as much as you will get on the standard turbo, after that its front mounted intercooler and bigger turbo, stick under 350bhp and 320ish lbs of torque and it should be nice and reliable

Remember that oil takes a fair bit longer to warm up than water (10 ish miles), also these can be a little fussy, they need a lot of pampering, biggest killers are maf sensors (100 quid from a dealer), det (crap fuel, hence I would get a ks3 fitted asap, cost about 220 quid) and lack of servicing/incorrect oil changes, a major (all belts, fluids) will set you back around 600 quid.

This car sounds a bit cheap for what its meant to be, under priced by at least 2k so it could be to good to be true!

Dont forget to get one of these ordered asap, atleast this will give you an indication of if the car is detting, and its about 12.5 times cheaper than a rebuild

Phormula - Advanced Engine Knock Detection
