Guys and gals,
Just wondered whether anyone is experiencing any oil consumption probs?
Mine is currently burning 1 ltr per 2K miles!!! Tried using Shell Helix Plus, now using Mobil-1 5/40w, still got the same problem!
Sorry about posting this in general.
Cheers, Alex

Sorry, I have never had to add oil - but I change the oil about once a month.
Even after a track day it's only gone down about 1cm on the dipstick if at all (250ml ish ?)
It's not like you've bought a TVR is it !

Alex,
Was it Bell & Colvill who told you it was 'within operating tolerances'.
?? If so then you might like to try somewhere else to get a second opinion.
To put it into some kind of perspective my old thrashed Uno Turbo with 102,000 Miles on the clock didn't burn much more oil that that.
I own a MY00 and I have never had to top up the oil so I would hardly call it normal.

Would they be the stickers you had in the windows at Oulton. If so, is there any chance you could get me a couple?
I want some for my new Scoob for NM5 - 29th April.
Cheers

Alex,
Just a quick thought, and I don't know if Ronnie has suggested this, but my guess might be that 5 weight oil is too thin to start with. When it gets hot, and thins out even more, it might be creeping past piston rings etc.
Try using a 10W40 oil. Be it Mobil 1 Motorsport or Silkoline etc etc.
Cheers,
Matt

My previous two turbos (MY97 and MY00) never seemed to use any oil at all...oil changed regularly due to track work from time to time.
I will keep an eye on oil usage on the P1 and let you know what happens.
just past 10,000 miles
oh well ![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)

Thanks again guys.
Well, basically, I was originally running with 10/40w Shell Helix Plus, then moved over to Mobil-1 5/40w which seemed to reduce consumption, but it seems to be getting progressively worse with the mileage.
It has been suggested that there has been a fault with some of the oil rings/seals in the short engine on occassion, so that will be the first point of call.
The guys at MILL-LANE are sorting this out for me, top blokes.
Ultimately my MY00 UK turbo didnt burn any, so I dont expect the P1 to be any different.
Thanks all, Alex

Just "Dream Weaver" (With the space, without the quotes). About 10" long in white for the rear windows. One for each side. Preferably single letters on a sheet (a la the old Oakley stickers
) as I am going to leave them on after NM5.
Similar to yours at Oulton, just slightly longer and with my username of course![](http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif)
Please supply me with a cost - you can mail me at sp@impreza.fsnet.co.uk or just reply here.
Cheers
