Pro's and con's
I am hoping to buy an impreza in the not too distant future. I have been taking a look at some jap versions.. what are the pro's and con's of owning/running a "jap import" ?

JapaneseImportSpecialist : Rare White, Red Top Engine, 6 Speed, Very Quick, Just Like New,
This caught my eye. though i have not test drove any yet (classic or newage). Like i say, not got the funds yet, but learning, taking my time whilst the funds are building... dont want to buy the wrong car and regret it.

Not a bad choice the car will need a remap tbh they are mapped for 100 ron fuel in japan, you can run them without but you need v power and octane booster plus something to monitor the engine (knocklink or better still a KS3, recommend these on the car after its mapped also), pretty reliable, can suffer the dreaded knocking rear suspension but hopefully with that mileage its been sorted anyway
Engines are strong if looked after, this should have a vf30 turbo, capable of around 340bhp when mapped with some other mods (exhaust etc), DONT decat and not map, they go BANG! and engines aint cheap
Brakes are up to the job but the pads are a little wooden so recommend changing those, shop around for brake discs if they need changing, they are like 400 quid from a dealer but you can get them for nearly half that from doing a bit of searching
Gearboxes/clutches are strong, ensure the clutch isnt knackered as these can set you back a fair whack, car tax will be the biggie on these, 400 quid for a fresh import but you wont have to pay that just yet
